The Auditors’ episode 9 recap begins with Seo-jin and Dae-woong’s pictures being uploaded regarding the nepotism case at JU Construction. Seo Jin doesn’t show anyone. However, they all find out when they check their computers. Mr Yum concludes that they may be lovers which irritates Han Soo and the others, bashing him for going too far. Cha IL becomes aware after President Se-woong shows him the post. The president orders Cha-il to pursue a thorough audit of Seo-jin’s case, hoping to find dirt on Dae-woong and remove him from the company.
Seo Jin has an interview with Cha-il and we find that Dae-woong is not Seo-jin’s blood relative. He considers her mother a sister since she took care of him while working as a housekeeper at Dae-woong’s family’s house. Seo-jin also reiterates that she had passed the test solely on her ability. After the interview, Mr Yum asks if there’s something going on between her and the vp making her feel bad. She leaves the office for fresh air, ashamed while Han Soo pursues her and assures her he believes her.
Vp Hwang Dae woong comes to Cha il’s office to counteract the rumors after Cha IL had told him to come for an interview if he wants to clear Seo Jin’s name.
After a thorough check into Seo-jin’s case, Shin Cha-il informs the president of no foul play. But since the president wants Dae-woong out of the company, he removes Cha-il from the case, citing his inability to investigate his team members, and initiates an external audit. When Cha IL informs the audit team, they are taken aback.
Vp Hwang storms into the president’s office angry at his decision but the president claims he’s trying to create a fair environment. Seo Jin’s mother turns out to be the family’s housekeeper who took care of Vp Hwang whenever the president bullied him. He tells him he never ate with him even though they are brothers and calls the housekeeper his sister to which the president mocks him. His only concern is making sure either he or Seo Jin is taking the blame.
Meanwhile, Dae-woong decides to take matters into his own hands. He meets Shin Cha IL in the elevator and requests his help with the case to clear Seo-jin’s name. He feels that his brother might set a trap for him. Cha IL decides to help him.
Soon, the external audit team arrives at the company. Their leader Seo hee Jin greets Cha IL and immediately goes straight to business. Meanwhile, Han soo is surprised when Vp Dae-woong privately summons him. He asks Han-soo to investigate the IP address of the person who uploaded the post about him and Seo-jin. Han Soo is a bit hesitant due to the risks but Vp Hwang yells at him to help his colleague.
The audit team soon realizes that the company, Bareum, in charge of the external audit, is known for being ruthless and leaving no stone unturned. Never backing down from a case, Shin Cha-il and the audit team decide to investigate as well by reviewing four years’ worth of hiring processes and associated files hidden in the archives, suspecting that Seo-jin’s case is a distraction from the unfair employment case. Cha IL tells them all that they should instead focus on the unfair employment case. Han Soo is happy that Cha IL believes Seo Jin but Cha IL tells him he only believes that the audit he carried out isn’t wrong. He orders everyone to find the 2020s documents.
The audit team begins their search as the external audit starts on Seo-jin’s case. Seo hee Jin questions VP Hwang and Seo Hye ji about their relationship. Turns out that the president wants her to make up dirt about them even though they are innocent in exchange for future collaborations. Vp Hwang senses her trick and is ready to match with her. He orders Mr Yoon to find out everything he can about Seo hee Jin. Although Mr Yoon is uncomfortable, he goes through with it.
During the questioning, Seo Hee Jin, tells Seo Hye jin she came across a report from a fellow employee, Jung Hye-Young, claiming that Seo-jin met with Vice President Dae-woong during the interview process and might have acquired questions in advance. She doesn’t tell Seo Hye jin who gave the report as Seo Hye ji. vehemently denies it, citing no foul play.
Meanwhile, Shin Cha-il acknowledges that the imprisoned Director Seo from the initial episodes was in charge of the hiring process and might have influenced the outcome. He meets with a former employee to question him on why he moved the hiring documents to the archives.
When he refuses to answer, Vp Dae-woong appears and nearly punches him if it weren’t for Cha IL stopping him. However, Vp Hwang forces him to admit that he tampered with the report card of an employee on Director Seo’s orders but doesn’t know who the employee is. Later, Shin Cha-il and Dae-woong conclude that if they tally the marks of the online test with the numbers fed into the document, they would identify the employee.
Cha IL leaves but is shocked when Vp Hwang follows him in his car, preferring to sit in the back seat while Cha IL drives him around like his driver. He is annoyed when Cha IL keeps asking if he’s innocent and tells him he already feels betrayed and that Cha IL should simply drive quietly.
Han-soo and Assistant Manager Moon Sang-Ho are tasked with retrieving the documents from the archives unaware that they are being watched by a strange woman. In the archives, they are suddenly attacked by unknown men. Fortunately, Cha-il and Dae-woong arrive in time, catching one of the perpetrators. Cha IL is quite impressed at Vp Hwang’s fighting skills. They retrieve the documents. After torturing the criminal, they find the person who ordered the attack is called CEO Jeong and assume it’s an acquaintance of Director Seo.
Mr Moon suggests Han Soo should take Cha IL and Vp Hwang to the company while he comes after them with the files. Vp Hwang makes Han Soo drive them to the police station even though Cha IL objects. Han Soo asks if Cha IL is hurt. Same goes for Han Soo which makes Vp Hwang tease Cha IL that he never expected him to be warm hearted.
However, Moon Sang-Ho suddenly calls crying that he has been attacked by thugs and ends up losing the documents. They drive over to where he is battered near his car. This loss makes everyone dejected. Han Soo tries calling Seo Jin but her phone is switched off.
Vp Hwang comes to see her but her mother tells him she has been locked up in her room for a long time. Vp Hwang sadly recalls how she comforted him when he was often beaten by his father.
Meanwhile, at the company, Mr Moon meets the strange woman Jeong Hye Jung who was spying on them. She wants to know how the case against Seo hye Ji is going but Mr Moon doesn’t give her any information.
The next day, through Vp Hwang’s investigation, they find that CEO Jeong is a famous moneylender and an associate of Director Seo. He’s also the father of Assistant Manager Jeong Hye-Young who is the real person hired unfairly. She is promptly asked for an interview with Cha-il which surprises the other Audit members especially Mr Moon. During questioning, she repeatedly denies any foul play whereas VP Hwang storms in ready to teach her a lesson if not for the intervention of the audit team. Unfortunately, there’s no proof that Jeong Hye young is the culprit who spread the rumors. The team is worried about Seo Jin.
However, Seo-jin is determined not to let this circumstance hinder her. She decides to look through the CCTV footage near her house to identify who captured her pictures. Meanwhile, Han-soo meets with his friend, whose company owns the site. His friend gives him a tip regarding the case, and Han-soo traces the IP address to a surprising location. It’s Mr Moon’s home and he asks him why he posted the pictures.
This episode took me by surprise. Mr Moon? Why would he betray everyone? Also, I’m happy Cha IL and Vp Hwang finally work together. It’s clear that Vp Hwang isn’t as bad as portrayed and that the president might be the bad one after all. What is he up to? Thanks for reading. Until next time.
