At the age of nine, Gwi ju won a huge golden carp candy but when he returned home to show it to his mother, she scolded and hit him with a cane for disobeying her instructions not to venture around that area because an accident would take place there. But suddenly, Gwi Ju disappeared and found himself in the past, thereby manifesting his powers for the first time. He discovered that he could only go to a happy time in his past and so he recalls over and over again, the moment when he won the carp but one day something changes, he notices a girl run past him crying.
He follows the girl and suddenly discovers that her dog whom she had been searching for had an accident at the same time while he was celebrating winning his golden carp. He goes back in time over and over again but he couldn’t save her dog. This made Gwi ju realise that even when he was happy, someone else was suffering. Because of this, that memory no longer became a good one. In the future, he can’t even go back to the happy time when his daughter was born because it no longer became a happy memory for him.
In the present, Gwi Ju goes out of the house to smoke when he suddenly sees the stuff toys he bought for In ah outside in the trash. He also notices a masked motor cyclist who seems suspicious. In ah suddenly comes out of the house and Gwi ju scolds her for being on her phone so much given that she doesn’t even call him at all. In ah barely reacts as she tells him she’s off to school and leaves.
Gwi ju goes to the mall to buy another gift for In ah. The masked cyclist who is Da hae’s uncle informs her of his whereabouts and she appears there in other to gain his attention but Gwi ju doesn’t give her the time of day. She suggests to him to buy a pair of trendy shoes for In ah but he tells her to stay away from him. When Da hae insists, he ends up mistakenly tearing her sleeve in the process. This causes immense embarrassment.
Gwi ju is drinking alone at the mall when Da hae who has changed into another cloth approaches him with the shoes. He takes it from her and rudely places money on the table, refusing to talk with her. But as soon as he’s gone, a fire alarm sets off indicating that fire has erupted in the mall. While others are running for their lives, Da hae stays rooted to the spot unable to move due to her trauma for fire. She balls up herself but to her surprise, Gwi ju suddenly appears and takes her hand. The fire alarm goes off and there is an announcement declaring that there was no fire, only an malfunction in the alarm system. Da hae is about to turn to Gwi Ju but he has mysteriously disappeared.
Gwi ju drops off the shoes for In ah in front of her door secretly watching how happy she is wearing it.
Da hae meets Ms Bok and she takes her to the gym. Meanwhile at the gym, Dong hee targets the personal trainer Grace (Da hae’s sister) after seeing men ogling at her but of course, Grace fires back at her by calling her Bong don’t eat due to her weight before walking away sassily. Just then, Da hae and Ms Bok enters and Dong hee overhears her mother telling Da hae that she plans to give the entire gym building to her son when he remarries. Dong hee isn’t happy to hear this and speaks with her mother privately unaware that Da hae has signaled to Grace to overhear their conversation.
Dong hee reminds her mother she promised to give her the building if she gets married. She would soon marry her boy friend Doctor Jo. Besides, they barely know Da hae, how could she trust her easily. Dong hee says she would definitely get married before her brother.
Meanwhile, Da hae sees Gwi ju enter the gym. She asks him why he’s at work but he replies drearily that for someone as depressed as he is, he had to summon all his energy but now that he was loosing even more energy, he was going back home.
As he’s leaving, Da hae suddenly thanks him for holding her hand at the mall but Gwi ju appears like he has no idea what she’s talking about. Ms Bok overhears them, getting overly excited that they held hands but Gwi ju ignores both of them and leaves, wondering how he could have possibly held Da hae’s hand.
Meanwhile, Da hae gives Ms Bok her signature tea and that night, she sleeps like a baby. When Gwi Ju returns home, his father complements Da hae, saying he likes her. The next morning, Gwi ju is hounded by Ms Bok for living a secluded messy life. She expresses her doubt over In ah being his child since she hasn’t manifested her powers yet. She wants him to have another child, one which could probably have powers but Gwi ju warns her not to repeat such a thing again saying that he is In ah’s father.
Meanwhile, Da hae and her scammer family wonder why Gwi ju hasn’t made a move since holding her hand. They think things are moving too slow. However, Da hae says that Gwi ju’s eyes felt different that particular time he held her hand. Her family decide to find out what the Boks weakness could be.
In ah is having a difficult time in school. Due to shyness, she’s unable to join a club and only one boy notices her. She also seems to have a crush on the boy because she watches him dancing in his club at school.
However, she’s caught by a teacher who calls Gwi ju to let him know that his daughter is finding things tough at school. Due to her being antisocial, she’s unable to join any club which is mandatory for every student. Not only that, the newsletters she had given him has yet to be signed by him and brought back to school.
Feeling disillusioned by his lacking abilities, Gwi ju seeks to drown himself in alcohol. He goes to the kitchen to find himself a drink but instead his father meets him, requesting that they both go out and have a drink together but it’s actually a set up by his parents for him and Da hae which immediately irritates him. He is left alone with her but her tries to act rude to Da Hae by refusing to share a drink with her but she matches his tempo by drinking alcohol by herself regardless.
Meanwhile, Dong hee visits Dr Jo in the hospital but gets upset when she notices that her cut out placard has been cast aside. She ends up indulging herself in the free chocolate servings at the hospital after hearing Dr Jo in his office laughing with a female patient. Unable to stand it, she barges inside, surprised to see Dr Jo with Grace. They claim they weren’t doing anything apart from consulting with each other but she doesn’t believe him.
Dong hee takes Dr Jo out for dinner and presents him a marriage certificate. She pleads with him to get married to her but Dr Jo refuses claiming he first has to pay off all the money she lent him to open up his clinic. Then he leaves her. Dong hee goes to the gym and without acknowledging anyone, heads straight to the running machine and starts jogging. Grace watches her, a bit confused.
Meanwhile, Da hae’s uncle follows In ah after school and watches as she rushes into a restroom. In ah calls her family members but her grandfather is busy cooking, Dong hee.is still running and her grandmother is fast asleep so she’s left with no option than to call her Dad but Da hae picks up, telling her that her father is a bit out of sorts. (He’s drunk) Unwillingly, In ah tells Da hae her address and she informs Gwi ju who seems to get himself for a moment and start running over with Da hae to the restroom to get In ah.
But when he arrives, he sees the strange bike man from the previous day. As for Da Hae, she recognizes her uncle and immediately, signals to him to leave but Gwi Ju gets a hold on him and Da hae’s uncle pretends to be on the loosing end as Gwi ju punches his helmet. Just then, In ah calls Gwi ju and asks why he’s hitting the man. Da hae realises what her problem was and why she really called her father. She heads to the store and buys In ah sanitary pads congratulating her for getting her first period.
Gwi ju and Da hae take In ah home and when Gwi ju tries to congratulate her too, she cuts him off, embarrassed and leaves after thanking Da hae. Out of gratitude, Gwi Ju takes Da hae out for drinks. He tells her he isn’t used to saying thanks and feels strange considering how he feels due to his depression. Da hae then reminds him of how he held her hand but Gwi ju is still clueless about it. Da Hae then asks if he traveled to the past from the future. It could explain the confusion. She must have made him happy so much that he regained his powers (She doesn’t believe what she’s saying though)
Gwi Ju then shocks her by telling her that even if he goes to the past, he really can’t touch anything.
Meanwhile, Grace worries that Dong hee would pass out if she keeps running for so long. Meanwhile, Dong hee is so full of pain that she cries inwardly, wishing she can fly again. All of a sudden, she feels herself lifted off the ground but Grace stops the machine when she finds out Dong hee is hyperventilating and helps her regain her breathing, surprised when Dong hee suddenly bursts into tears.
Meanwhile, Gwi ju and Dong hee are still talking. She asks if there’s nothing happy he can go back to and gets surprised when he can’t even mention his daughter’s birth. She says that In ah reminds her of her lonely childhood. Her mother had passed away when she was young and she had a drunk father who never cared about her. Dong hee opens up on his inability to care for his daughter when he’s a mess. Although, In ah needs a mother, he wouldn’t want Da hae to waste her life so he tells her to stay away from him or he’ll want to hold onto her but Da hae tells him he already did by holding her hands.
At home, Gwi ju starts signing the school newsletters but he keeps remembering Da Hae’s talk about him going to the past and holding her hand. He tries to see if his powers would return so he closes his eyes and to his shock, finds himself in the past in the mall. He can’t believe it when he sees his past self carrying the gift Da hae had bought for In ah. The fire alarm goes off and he searches for Da Hae only to find her crouched on the ground in fear. He can’t touch anything in the past but he is surprised to find himself holding her hand, something he has never done before.
