In Episode 7, Hyeon-jae chats with his Jeong in that his parents have been gone all night. Surprisingly, he discovers that Mi-rae is also not at home. This smoothly leads us to the events that happen after the motel incident, when Tae-pyeong decides to go for a run in an attempt to clear his thoughts.
Mi-rae has finished packing and is prepared to depart. She’s not residing at her residence, but she feels disoriented and unsure of her direction. While she was out on her day off, she unexpectedly encounters Tae-pyeong on the street.
While conversing, he describes her as headstrong and eventually convinces her to stay at his place for the time being after a small struggle. He will look after her, but they encounter a problem when Tae-pyeng’s taekwondo buddies arrive. They are quite exaggerated and Mi-rae is somewhat reserved. The gang hosts a rooftop barbecue, and Tae-pyeong is chivalrous as he gets her a sweater.
Ae-yeon is surprised when she receives a message from Mi-rae, cautioning her that if she reconciles with her father, she will move out permanently. This situation leaves Ae-yeon in a difficult position, particularly because Moo-jin is looking after her and they appear to be getting along.
There’s additional tension with Jae-geol also involved in the midst of this. He has two daughters and their mother sends a message requesting child support. Experiencing financial difficulties, he signs onto the computer as Moo-jin and ponders the idea of applying for a loan under his own name. He doesn’t do it, but Moo-jin appears to understand the situation and sends some money to him, letting him know that he can always ask for more money in the future.
That evening, Ae-yeon leaves a note for her daughter. She is aware that Mi-rae is disappointed, but she prefers to have a face-to-face conversation to resolve the situation. She reads the message but chooses not to respond. Instead, she continues to drink, but this time only with Tae-pyeong and Mi-rae.
Mi-rae expresses her regret to him that Ae-yeon should have never crossed paths with Moo-jin. While conversing, Tae-pyeong reveals his family life and how his grandfather favored him, admitting that the CEO is his brother, leading to a close bond between them. Still, it seems as though they are about to kiss…but when a car honks outside, Mi-rae leaves.
During a funeral, Moo-jin catches Jae-geol talking negatively about him to their former classmates. All of these men only have negative comments about Moo-jin, particularly because of his history and the fact that he used to beg for money. Nevertheless, in his angry state, Jae-geol starts to kick off and Moo-jin catches on. It appears that his explosion is caused by his transfer of money, leading Jae-geol to feel embarrassed.
Moo-jin is let down and declines the refund, dismissing his embarrassing reaction and suggesting he should simply keep being his tax accountant and move on.
He encounters someone named Cheol-hong outside, who is attending a different funeral. This is dedicated to their ex-baseball coach, Mr. Park. Rumors circulated about Moo-jin being a former professional baseball player and now we can confirm it. Moo-jin was once a strong hitter, but he feels uncomfortable when the team showers him with compliments.
Moo-jin feels quite anxious about the situation, but who will step in to help? No one but Ae-yeon. She bursts through the doors and decides to create a grand display, portraying themselves as wealthy with an abundance of money.
While walking away, Ae-yeon lashes out and demands to know why he is simply standing there and accepting it. Moo-jin, however, scolds her for speaking out. She ends up taking a taxi away from the situation, but makes sure to point out that he is self-centered because others had to make sacrifices too.
Much of this originates from Ae-yeon’s pregnancy. Moo-jin, who was once very talented, had to take on physical work in order to support his child. When he could no longer play baseball, he fell into a drunken stupor, abandoning his dream. Mi-rae listens in as his friend repeats Moo-jin’s words, saying that Mi-rae has hindered his career and prevented him from advancing. She’s devastated.
Upon Ae-yeon’s return, Mi-rae is waiting outside. The duo reenter the building and have a straightforward conversation to resolve the misunderstanding. Mi-rae apologizes for causing concern, but as things are getting resolved, she notices two cups on the table and quickly assumes she is with Moo-jin and in a relationship. Consequently, she rushes into her room and stays silent about her evening with Tae-pyeong.
Ae-yeon makes every effort to communicate with her daughter, but it is futile. The awkwardness continues the following day as she exits the apartment and comes across Moo-jin on the rooftop, where he is busy organizing the villa. Mi-rae angrily criticizes him indirectly, labeling him as ineffective, and accuses him of causing chaos in their family.
Mi-rae still depends on her taekwondo to release her frustrations, but when she arrives to see Tae-pyeong that day, he has a fresh lesson for her. More precisely, the method of riding a bicycle. Tae-yepong believes that this activity will be enjoyable for him and Mi rae, even though typically a father is the one to teach his daughter such things.
While riding around the park, Moo-jin happens to catch sight of them and observes them. This reminds us of the past, especially when we saw a previous scene of her riding her bike without Moo-jin.
Interestingly, Mi-rae spots her father in a daze with a scooter approaching to hit him. Mi-rae cycles towards her father to rescue him, but loses control and lands in the bushes.
Moo-jin and Tae-pyeong quickly take her to the hospital, luckily there is no ligament damage, and Moo-jin escorts her outside. He scolds her for engaging in such a risky behavior. He further elaborates on his affection towards the family and expresses regret for not fulfilling his past commitment. Moo-jin clarifies that he was not the cause of the hatred, as he despised himself at that time for his constant failings.
He says that having them is the best thing he ever did, and Mi-rae starts crying. She says she’s only saying that because her arm hurts, but in actuality, this is exactly what she needed to hear. And, of course, Moo-jin needs to start taking responsibility for his actions.
Upon returning home, Ae-yeon searches through Mi-rae’s belongings and discovers the agreement, leading her to feel shocked and gain a newfound understanding.
So the drama is progressing nicely and I enjoy the character development. It’s making me glad I didn’t drop the drama. Thanks for reading. What do you think about this episode?
