The fifth episode begins by delving into the past. During their wedding photo shoot, Ae-yeon asks Moo-jin to make a commitment to always be by her side. He naturally agrees, and it appears he is still clinging to this as we return to the present.
This brings us up to speed with last week’s conclusion, when Jeong-in is drunk and calls out for Moo-jin. Nevertheless, she refers to him as “Khun Mooy”. It seems that they initially crossed paths in Thailand and he handed over all of his wealth to her. She also discloses that she had a miscarriage shortly after coming back to Korea. Moo-jin remains silent and exits the room.
At the villa, Ae-yeon advises Mi-rae to refrain from participating in her trivial rivalry with Moo-jin. The second person doesn’t handle it well and ends up leaving to go to work. Naturally, she finds herself in the elevator once more. On the third try, she finally manages to have a conversation with Tae-pyeong. Even as he departs, she smiles, but later catches herself and halts the expression.
Moo-jin persuades Ae-yeon to go out for a meal. She advises him to manage his money better. He is aware that he has been deceived and requests for her to come back to him and manage his finances. He discloses that she is his one and only. Nevertheless, she informs him that they are history and he should start a relationship with someone else. When going through a divorce, it’s best to focus on moving ahead instead of dwelling on the past, and Ae-yeon is choosing to follow that advice.
Moo-jin claims he has grown up and transformed, but other than the financial aspect, he remains the same. Not in the eyes of Ae-yeon at all. She informs him that he is not welcome in their group. Nevertheless, she does instruct him to behave properly towards the children. Moo jin feels wounded by her refusal and calls her a heartless woman for saying those words while appearing so attractive. Ae yeon is in a state of confusion as he departs.
At the same time, Jae Gyeol is upset about Ae Yeon getting involved in his scheme to obtain Moo Jin’s money. He begins scheming a malicious plan.
That evening, Moo-jin assists Ae yeon as she hesitates to install security cameras and almost falls, mainly to observe him. The following day, Ae yeon compels Mi rae to go on a picnic with her. Solo, the two discuss Ae-yeon’s connection with Moo-jin. She summarizes her activities and suggests Mi-rae relax and take a break, while expressing gratitude for her support and for empowering her to separate from her father. Mi rae believes her mother has truly moved on from her father, whereas she hasn’t because she still gets upset when she sees him and can’t comprehend her own feelings.
Ae yeon’s neighbors are curious if she wouldn’t get back with her ex and inquire about it while she’s getting her nails done. Ae-yeon is firm in her belief that there is nothing between her and Moo jin and repeats her desire for him to move on and find a new partner. She would also gladly set up Moo Jin with another woman. It is interesting that Jeong-in is listening from across the room.
At the same time, Tae pyeong accompanies Mi rae back home to ensure her safety after a woman was abducted the previous week. Mi rae keeps it a secret that the woman is her mother, but she reveals that the perpetrator was attacked by three women. Tae pyeong is surprised and playfully walks away from her, only to come back later, causing Mi rae’s heart to race. Worried that she is developing feelings for him, she warns him not to be kind to her again. The duo are beginning to develop feelings for each other, causing Tae-pyeong to lose sleep as he struggles to understand his emotions for Mi-rae.
Jeong is experiencing some guilt because of her connection to Moo-jin, causing her to get extremely drunk that night. Ae-yeon assists her and Jeong-in, while drunk, expresses her desire to be like her because Ae-yeon has everything, including the children and Moo-jin. Ae-yeon faints before she can say the last name, but as she tidies up her room, she is surprised to see a picture of Jeon in and Moo-jin together.
Due to this, Ae-yeon is shocked and in denial, although those around her suspect she may be experiencing a midlife crisis. However, there is currently another issue happening at the workplace. J-Plus gathers all the authorities for a Board Meeting, where the CEO expresses dissatisfaction for not being in the top position. During the conversation, the President informs the CEO that the Sokcho Factory’s owner has called to say they will no longer be supplied by them. Mi-rae has the responsibility of resolving issues and saving the day with a new product launch in just 2 days.
Tae-pyeong listens in on the conversation and chooses to accompany her, understanding that his connection to the CEO might help them succeed. So they leave together to attempt to finalize this agreement. Mi-rae arrives first and talks to the President as she steps off her boat. Indeed, she falls to the ground and pleads with her. Despite this method leading to no progress, Tae-pyeong continues to show kindness towards her. He has her preferred treats and also wraps his arms around her tightly. It’s quite amusing when Mi-rae attempts a flying airplane into the President’s mouth, causing him to finally open up and talk.
It appears that the President is justified in ending this agreement. Two years ago, she offered the seafood tofu stew hoping that J-Plus would support the divers. Nevertheless, the requests have been disregarded. Mi-rae insists the product is no longer available but she doesn’t want to feel deceived. Mi-rae is sure that it won’t happen again and is confident that Diver Tteokbokki will become very popular. Her confident presentation is effective in convincing her.
At the same time, Ae-yeon talks to Jeong-in and asks her questions about her time in Thailand. Despite having the picture and being aware of her connection to Moo-jin, she finds it difficult to confess her knowledge of the truth and opts to go play baseball instead. However, Moo-jin is also struggling with conflicting feelings as he attempts to figure out how to improve as a father to Mi-rae.
As he cries out to the sky, questioning his return and how he can improve as a parent, he eventually arrives at the same beach as Tae-pyeong and Mi-rae. They are in disbelief when they catch sight of him. Tae pyeong steps away from Mi rae to have a conversation with Moo jin. Moo jin apologizes for causing trouble and simply wanted to make things more manageable for her. Indeed, events did not unfold as expected leading to a decision to depart. He encounters Tae pyeong who reassures him that his relationship with Mi rae was purely professional. Nevertheless, Moo jin assures him that things will turn out fine with Mi rae since the women in his family are not fond of athletes. Still, Moojin fulfills his commitment to Mirae and repairs the security camera located outside of the house.
During lunch with her friend, Mi-rae becomes frustrated with her brother as she sees Hyeon-Jae outside discussing their business plan with his friend. During exam week, Mi-rae is surprised to discover what he has been doing instead of studying.
Hyeon-jae has been shadowing the seniors in the Entrepreneur’s Club who have successful businesses, rather than studying. He spent his tuition money on them for guidance. Approximately 8 million won, equivalent to the cost of two semesters. Hyeong-jae trusts Moo-jin to assist him, but it’s evident that he has inherited his father’s careless attitude towards finances.
Mi-rae is feeling overwhelmed and calls her father, and they decide to meet up for coffee. At that moment, Ae yeon notices that Moo has returned from his trip and decides to visit his apartment to have a conversation with him. When he doesn’t respond, she wonders if he could be with Jeong and feels embarrassed for thinking that way.
However, the gathering isn’t a joyful one, with Mi-rae feeling upset towards her father for giving Hyeon-jae false hope. She mentions his desire to launch his own business, and quietly, Moo-jin passes an envelope. In the interior is a form for transferring ownership deeds. Essentially, the apartment will be under their ownership and, keeping his promise, he will depart.
Moo-jin thinks that once he’s gone, Hyeon-jae will finally realize the truth. Mi-rae is furious and thinks that he is once again fleeing after making such a big mess. She squeezes up the document and declares that she thinks it is important for him to remain and take care of Hyeon-jae the right way. Thinking she has inherited her mother’s midlife crisis, she informs him that she plans to send Hyeon jae to stay with him. He must accept accountability and fulfill the duties of a parent.
Upon Ae-yeon’s arrival at the bar, the two individuals conceal themselves, fearing that she would harm them if she were to discover the covert promise they made. Moo-jin plans to divert her attention, but the situation takes a surprising turn when Ae yeon mentions Jeong-in and his activities in Thailand. She wonders if he is the man who got Jeong-in pregnant and then left. Moo jin thinks she is jealous. Refusing to be honest with her, Moo-jin tries to walk away and Ae-yeon retaliates by breaking an egg on his head.
Oh my goodness! Everyone is experiencing a midlife crisis because of Moo jin. The series is doing well for now but I know it has the potential to do more. We’ll see.
