Eun Sung tells Hae in to stay with him because Hyun woo would be upset after finding out she mistook them. But Hae in insists on getting out. Eun Sung opens the door and she speaks with Hyun woo, lying that that she only wanted to meet her grandfather. Hyun woo insists on going with her but Eun Sung refuses so Hae in tells Hyun woo to pick her up later. She reluctantly leaves with Eun Sung.
But Hyun woo gets into an accident caused by Mr Pyeon, the land broker. When he wakes up, he finds himself tied up inside his car and Mr Pyeon mocking him. When Hae in and Eun Sung arrive at the mansion, Eun Sung insists on having dinner with Hae in. While preparing, Mr Pyeon calls him to tell him he has killed Hyun woo and demands payment for that job but Eun Sung tells him he would pay him later. He then switches off his phone and continues planning a romantic dinner for Hae in. As they eat, Hae in shows her reluctance to be with him leading Eun Sung to divulge that he was not only the one who saved her from the dog attack, he was also the one who saved her from drowning when they were kids. Hae in thanks him but says he should have told her earlier. He replies he couldn’t because his mother was hiding him and he didn’t want to rouse attention.
Meanwhile, Seon Hwa joins Bong ae in looking through pictures of Hyun woo. She remarks that he has always been a handsome boy and Bong ae happily talks about him. But Seon hwa freezes when she notices the picture of Hyun woo as a young child marine in the same beach where her son died. Bong ae reveals that Hyun woo had even saved a kid from drowning. After their dinner, Eun Sung lets Hae in see her grandfather but when Seul hee finds out, she gets livid at Eun Sung but he doesn’t think it’s an issue considering Chairman Man dae has lost his memory. Hae in comes out of the room and confronts Seul hee branding her a gold digger. She tells her she would still come back. After she leaves, Eun Sung goes after Hae in resisting his mother who tries stopping him.
However, Hae in looses her way unable to recollect the front gate due to her illness but in that moment, Hyun woo approaches her. At first, she’s hesitant not sure if he’s Hyun woo or Eun Sung but after confirming his identity, she hugs Hyun woo and follows him to his car. All of this Eun Sung sees through the security cameras. Seething, he calls Mr Pyeon asking why Hyun woo is still alive. Mr Pyeon replies that it’s because Eun Sung went back on his deal. Hyun woo had suggested he call whoever ordered him and see if they would keep to their promise of giving him money and a plane ticket abroad so when he called Eun Sung he renegade on his deal and switched the phone on him. Hyun woo had then listed out the heavy consequences Mr Pyeon would pay if he killed him and so promised to get him acquitted if he spares his life. Mr Pyeon agreed to the deal and now, he threatens Eun Sung to expose him if he doesn’t pay his money.
Hyun woo takes Hae in to the apartment he lived in after their divorce. She asks if he was comfortable living here. Hyun woo replies that he was. Hae in, slightly upset, bashes him for sleeping comfortably unlike her who suffered during their divorce. He must have had peace. But Hyun woo quickly denies it claiming that he had headaches and fell sick because of the place. (Haha) But then he says it was horrible mostly because she wasn’t there and sometimes, he thought of how it would have been if they lived in such a small place especially after having a fight. (Hmm…I get what you mean) He says whenever he thought of this, he would miss her. Hae in gets shy, suddenly telling him she’s hungry. (She just ate!) Hyun woo quickly starts making food for her while she watches him with interest.
Meanwhile, Eun Sung is wallowing in anger and frustration. He smashes the dinner plates causing him to have an injury in his hand. Seul hee meets him and tells him to accept that Hae in only uses him. Eun Sung knows but doesn’t care since he’s used to being used by his own mother. He starts to leave but Seul hee stops him by revealing that she never neglected him and had protected him the whole time. His adoptive parents who abused him but suddenly died, the orphanage director who was wicked to him but also mysteriously died during the fire that shut down the orphanage wasn’t a coincidence and was all her doing. Everything she’s doing is to make the world his and she would stop at nothing, getting rid of everyone even if it’s Hae in who stands in her way by using him. This was her way of loving him. (Twisted if you ask me) Eun Sung is totally shocked to hear this revelation.
Hae in praises Hyun woo’s cooking, asking why he never cooked before. He simply replied that he never had the chance. She suddenly flusters him by asking if he would remarry after her death and live with another woman cooking food for her in this cozy place. Hyun woo tries to dodge the question but Hae in presses on. Hyun woo then says no one would want to marry him especially knowing what she publicly did for him. But Hae in refutes that saying there’s no woman who wouldn’t want to marry him. He’s handsome, kind and smart without being arrogant. There was no man like him. If she were to be reborn, she would want to marry him over again. Hyun woo is so flustered by her bluntness that he remarks she knows how to make his heart beat fast.
After their meal, Hae in is treating Hyun woo’s fore head wound when he asks if she had seen her grandfather. She replies that she did but he didn’t recognize her. However, she had left for him a pen recorder Chairman Man dae engraved for her when she became a CEO and told him to use it and that she would return. No sooner had she left than Seul hee barged into the room yelling at Chairman Man dae to tell her where the slush fund is and that he’s only alive because she doesn’t know where the money is. She mocks him for his inability to mourn over the fact that his dear granddaughter is dying from a rare brain tumor.
Meanwhile, Soo Cheol is practicing his boxing skills daily, thereby impressing Hyun woo’s brother. He later asks him about his wife whom he rarely sees and Hyun woo’s brother replies that his mother gave her a lot of freedom and did not allow her to get too tied up with the family. However, this upsets Soo Cheol as it reminds him of his Da hye and Gun woo. Meanwhile, the man who visited Da hye turns out to be her lover, the real father of Gun woo but he’s a despicable and violent human being. He had been the financial director at Queens, the one who pretended to be her brother. He tells Da hye that he had set up Soo Cheol so he would take the fall for his terrible deeds. He seizes her money and demands her to give him the golden buddha statue she had stolen from the family even threatening to hurt Gun woo. Da hye pretends to give in but she secretly gives him wine filled with sleeping pills and while he’s unconscious flees with Gun woo.
Miseon and her friends get in a fight with some stalking journalist and that morning, Hyun woo cuddles with Hae in the little couch after he catches her watching him with admiration.
While having breakfast, Seul hee and Eun Sung confront Grace after finding out she was the one who let Hyun woo have access to the house. To save her skin, she divulges that Hyun woo discovered the slush fund was somewhere in the mansion. While returning to the village, Hyun woo stops at the side of the road overlooking the sunset and proposes to Hae in again with a ring. He tells her to withdraw the divorce so they can be a married couple again but when Hae in rejects him, he’s confused until she reveals that she has started forgetting faces. It was the reason she followed Eun Sung the other day, thinking it was him. She can’t marry him again when she isn’t sure who he is or about anything for that matter. The two break down in tears.
Beom ja and Mr Baek’s friend Yeon Seong gets closer after she enlists the help of Conan who used his drone to find his mother who suddenly went missing. The two sit down to talk and she laments about the harsh things she last said to her father. However, Yeon Seong also divulges that he had been separated from his mother for years after she left due to his abusive father. He only started living with her after she was diagnosed with dementia. He comforts Beom ja by saying that everyone has their burden and that she should pull through
Meanwhile, Chairman Man dae seems to have recovered his memory a little because he has secretly stopped taking the drugs Seul hee gives him. Soo Cheol is on patrol with Hyun woo’s brother and friend when he gets the shock of his life. Da hye returned with Gun woo. Instead of chastising her, Soo Cheol is so happy to see her that he hugs her and Gun woo tightly.
But the rest of the family aren’t happy with her return especially Seon Hwa who demands that she leaves even after she returned everything she stole from them but Soo Cheol stands up against his mother and defends Da hye. He maintains that no matter what Gun woo is his son and reminds Seon Hwa that this isn’t their home. To everyone’s astonishment, he takes Da hye away and while they are alone, she apologises to him maintaining that she only returned to give back what she stole. She tells him that her ex plans to set him up and has decided not to live him feeling remorse over what she did but Soo Cheol doesn’t care, determined to remain with her no matter what even though she’s older than him.
(I admire Soo Cheol for standing up to his mother. He has a forgiving heart but it doesn’t change the fact Da hye betrayed him, lied to him, cheated on him with someone else, even having that person’s kid. He shouldn’t have forgiven her so easily. Oh well, that’s what the writers want to portray so we’ll go along with it.)
Mi Seon and her friends watch Da hye and Soo Cheol interacting the next morning and gossip about her dramatic entrance. They aren’t sure how to treat her. Mi Seon is still skeptical of her and suggest they should wait and see. Hae in enters Hyun woo’s room while he’s gone for work abd cannot resist trying on the ring he had bought for her, admiring how it easily fits in her finger but Hyun woo suddenly comes back and catches her in his room. He tells her he plans to return the ring unaware that Hae in is wearing it. Filled with embarrassment, she removes the ring and puts it back in the box giving a flimsy excuse that she was only analyzing the trends. Hyun woo catches on and decides to keep the ring so she can ‘analyse it further’. Hae in leaves the room dying of embarrassment. She enters her own room and screams into her pillow.
The family decide that the slush fund might be in the panic room except they have no idea where it is. Eun Sung has also discovered the same thing and hires experts to find any hidden room in the mansion. With the help of Yang ki, Hyun woo meets the son of the late architect who had designed the mansion for Man dae and asks for his help in getting the plan to the house. The man agrees to help and after giving him the plan, Hyun woo divulges everything to the family. They resolve to visit the house the following day. Meanwhile, Seul hee has discovered that Chairman Man dae hasn’t been taking the medication she’s been giving him. Chairman Man dae stops pretending and asks her what her true motive for coming to him was. Seul hee laughs at his naivety for thinking she actually loved him. She tells him there’s nothing he can do since he would still lose his memory anyway. The only thing she cares about is finding the slush fund and she demands he tell her.
That night, Chairman Man dae makes a heavy decision to completely rid himself and his family from Seul hee’s control. He kills himself by falling over the stairs. The family arrive at the mansion the next day only to discover that Chairman Man dae had died from a fall. Beom ja nearly looses herself to tears. The whole family falls into mourning and Chairman Man dae is given a befitting burial soon after. As the burial comes to a close, Hyun woo and the family confront Seul hee telling her that with Chairman Man dae’s death, she no longer has any control in the house or the company. They want to kick her out but Seul hee tells them to postpone their anger and give the chairman one last tour of the house.
They enter the elevator when Hyun woo suddenly unscrews the elevator handle which surprisingly has a button inside. He presses it and the elevator arrives at an unknown location. The episode ends.
Epilogue
Hyun woo was the one who actually saved Hae in from drowning not her older brother or Eun Sung who lied to her to gain her sympathy.
