Missing Crown Prince Episode 18 Recap

The king doesn’t waste time in punishing his enemies. Left councilor and Magistrate Yoon are arrested. Lord Choi is confined to his residence until the investigations against him have been completed.

Lee Gun is reinstated as crown prince while Dosung steps down and is ordered by the king to return to his residence outside the palace. As for the queen, she’s also confined to her chambers. He then rewards his loyal officers by promoting them.

The Queen dowager is devastated by the news whereas the queen barely reacts. Turns out that she has previously reunited with the king when he was in her chambers. He promised to protect her, asking her to be patient and endure what happens from now on.

The king then speaks privately with his two sons. He wants Dosung to support his brother like always. He agrees to that. But Dosung is concerned about Myung Yoon and the king yells that it isn’t his business what happens to her, stressing that she’s a traitor’s daughter. He orders him to leave.

After his departure, the king and Lee Gun get rid of all the spies working under the queen dowager. He then visits her and replaces all her staff with his own people. He strips her off her powers and warns that if she dares make a move against him, he would kill Lord Choi.

Lee Gun comes to bid Dosung farewell. Dosung acknowledges that he was right. Their father recovered but he is annoyed with Lee Gun, thinking he has abandoned Myung Yoon, leaving their father to punish her. Lee Gun explains that their father wouldn’t harm Myung Yoon and that he doesn’t understand who their father really is but Dosung doesn’t listen to him and leaves.

Myung Yoon checks on the king’s health. He’s getting worse and Myung Yoon wants him to rest and stop taking the pills to regain his energy faster. The king decides to be cooperative.

The queen dowager has secretly sent Lord Choi a message. While she’s waiting at their secret location, she sees Myung Yoon and Lee Gun enter together so she hides but ends up witnessing their love for each other. Lee Gun gives Myung Yoon an apricot hair piece as the two bask in their rare private moment. The queen dowager feels moved by the sight of them as it reminds her of when she and Lord Choi were innocent lovers.

As the two leave, Lord Choi who has entered the palace sees them. He meets with the queen dowager and she mentions how Lee Gun and Myung Yoon reminds them of their younger days. She doesn’t want them to be seperated like they were. She then suggests they should stop fighting their fate and Lord Choi agrees.

Meanwhile, the King is aware that Lord Choi disobeyed him by returning to the palace but he doesn’t make any move to punish him and decides to simply wait and see. Lee Gun is surprised when Lord Choi visits him in his chambers. He asks him to take care of his daughter but Lee Gun reminds him that he doesn’t get to ask anything from him considering they are sworn enemies after all that he did to him but still Lord Choi is concerned with his daughter because he’s her father. After getting Lee Gun’s confirmation, he leaves.

Myung Yoon is called over to meet Dosung on the pretext that he’s with her maid Oh wol but on getting there, he locks her in a room. Then announces that he would run away with her whether she likes him or not. But Myung Yoon tearfully tells him she would be unhappy and would rather accept death than to be miserable her entire life. She doesn’t want him to feel the same way so he should stop obsessing over her. Dosung feels bad and eventually releases her, deciding to put an end to his feelings.

After reuniting with Oh wol, Gap Seok takes them along with Moo Baek to meet Lee Gun. He is sharing food to the poor and needs their assistance. Myung Yoon is impressed with him. When they are alone, Lee Gun asks her to call him husband. At first, she’s reluctant but when she finally tells him, Lee Gun is ecstatic.

Oh Wol and Gap seok go to deliver free hay to a woman but Oh wol is enraptured by Gap Seok’s veiny arms and how strong he is when lifting the hay but Gap Seok is oblivious to her admiration.

Lee Gun and Myung Yoon bring free rice to an old woman with a bad leg. The old woman reads faces and she prophesies that the shadow of widowhood is no longer on Myung Yoon’s face and that her fate has changed to a great one. Myung Yoon doesn’t seem to believe her but accepts the prophecy regardless. On their way out, they meet Oh wol and Gap seok. Lee Gun makes an excuse and returns to the old woman. He apologizes for the fake prophecy he made her tell Myung Yoon but the woman clarifies that it’s the truth. Myung Yoon’s fate has really changed. It’s surprising because it’s the first time something like this has ever happened.

As he leaves, Oh wol and Gap seok come to the old woman to read their fortunes. The old woman predicts to Oh wol that she will live a happy life. She would marry a strong man and have five sons. Her husband is always around her but she should do everything she can not to loose him. Oh Wol knows it’s Gap Seok so she tries flirting with him but he harshly resists her.

Oh Wol leaves upset and when Gap Seok asks the old woman who his other half is, the woman gestures to Oh Wol who is walking away but he is clueless.

That night, the queen dowager, Lord Choi and Court lady Kim escaped the palace. But the queen dowager isn’t feeling well. When they stop at a small house, Lord Choi checks her pulse. That’s when both discover something shocking. The queen dowager is pregnant.
