Taichi informs his friends about his decision to leave school. They aren’t happy, considering the risks but they support him since he has found something he wants to do. Yasu asks if he has informed Kouhei yet.
Later, Taichi meets with Kouhei and asks to see him later that day in order to tell him something. Kouhei attends his sign language class but Maya is yet to arrive. She runs into an old friend of hers who introduces her to her boyfriend. As usual, Maya feels inadequate as she remembers how difficult her school life was because she pretended she could hear people. Only Kouhei understood her and he became her friend. She is lost in thought when Taichi suddenly appears to defend her thinking she’s been bullied but the misunderstanding is cleared and he apologizes.
Taichi and Maya walk together and Taichi tells Maya to stop pretending she can hear and that she has worked so hard to be perfect. She shouldn’t keep doing this to herself but Mays cries that he wouldn’t understand because nothing will change if she admits her disability. She walks away in tears.
Taichi then meets up with Kouhei and tells him what happened between him and Maya. He thinks he may have messed things up with her but Kouhei thinks otherwise and calls him slow witted for not being able to understand himself but others perfectly. Despite this, he thinks he is amazing but Taichi doesn’t think so as he believes he always fails. He then goes ahead to tell Kouhei about his desire to drop out. Kouhei, who is saddened, still supports him. Taichi tries to act tough but melts when Kouhei hugs him tightly.
But he gets flustered when Kouhei notes how fast his heart is beating. He pushes him away as Kouhei teases him. The two spend their last moments together until their final parting day. They say their goodbyes but a second later, Taichi notices Kouhei at the top of a building showing him a hand sign. Taichi wonders what it meant.
Time passes and neither keeps in touch with the other. Taichi hears from Yasu that Kouhei is getting along well with his new note taker and he tries to hide his disappointment.
Taichi and Mr Sai are walking on the streets when Taichi asks Mr Sai why he set up his company ‘sign’. He reveals it’s because of love. He fell in love with a deaf girl in college. At the time, people teased them whenever they saw them do sign language. That’s when he thought it would be great if everyone knew sign language so that the deaf wouldn’t feel lonely. Although things didn’t work out between him and the girl, he hoped that his work could contribute to helping the world. Mr Sai thinks Taichi is just like him, ready to change the world for someone important to him.
However, Tauchi is surprised to run into Maya at the company. Turns out she is Mr Sai’s niece. The two catch up and Taichi pleads with her not to tell Kouhei he’s working there. Maya agrees and asks why he took this decision. He reveals that he wants to do whatever he can to make Kouhei smile wherever he is, to make a better world for people like him. Maya is struck by what he said and barrages him for not recognizing his own feelings for Kouhei. She hints that he can’t do something like that for a mere friend. Taichi is clueless even when she thanks him for his help the other day and calls him an idiot several times for his cluelessness.
Taichi ends up meeting his friends at a festival. But he soon loses them. In the process of searching for them, he sees Kouhei and immediately runs after him. Thankfully Kouhei meets him and the two talk after so long. Taichi asks about his new note taker. Kouhei admits their relationship is good but confesses that he missed Taichi. He missed him all the time and wishes they can meet up like this even as friends. Taichi gets overwhelmed by his feelings and suddenly leaves. He now realizes that he has always liked Kouhei. He trips and falls but his body doesn’t hurt. It’s his heart as he recalls when he asked Sai the meaning of the sign Kouhei showed him the day they parted ways. Sai responded that it means love.
Kouhei meets Taichi at the street staircase that night and feels sad that he left so abruptly. He confesses that he can’t stop himself from liking Taichi. He had tried to hold himself back but it was impossible because he still wanted to be with him and thought about him all the time. He then apologizes for his feelings. But to his surprise, Taichi tells him not to apologize and confesses that he likes Kouhei as well and wants to be with him. He admits he missed him and always thought of him. Kouhei is in disbelief and thinks his ears may be deceiving him but Taichi assures him of his feelings, ready to tell him as many times as he possibly can. The two hug. (Like really?)
The episode ends as Taichi and Kouhei return to their favorite spot and reminisce. Taichi asks Kouhei what he would like to be reborn as? Kouhei responds he is fine with himself because he was able to meet Taichi. Taichi acknowledges the same thing but Kouhei doesn’t really hear him. When he asks him to repeat it, Taichi shyly refuses. The two continue their lives together and the series comes to an end
