The days go by and Taichi misses Kouhei so much he is all he can talk about to his friends so they suggest he should go see him at his house but Taichi doesn’t know Kouhei’s address so he searches instead for his mother’s cooking class address and it leads him straight to their house.
Kouhei’s mother is accommodating as she serves him refreshments. Seeing how well he eats, she recognises that he’s the lunch box boy her son always talks about. Taichi asks of Kouhei and she replies he went to get a new hearing aid as his old one got broken and his hearing seems to be getting worse. Before Taichi leaves, Kouhei’s mother tells him not to abandon Kouhei even though he can be a bit difficult. She remarks on how Kouhei had changed since knowing him. Taichi is surprised by this. He is even more surprised when he discovers that Kouhei was the one who prepared the hamburgers he loved so much so he can impress him.
On his way, he keeps thinking of Kouhei realising how well he treated him. Kouhei returns from the hospital and hears from his mother that Taichi dropped by. Meanwhile at work, Taichi’s boss quickly notices his gloomy mood and asks him about it. He tells him what happened between him and Kouhei and his boss deduces that it’s either his friend likes the girl or that his friend decided not to interfere thinking he liked the girl. Taichi suddenly wants to call Kouhei to resolve the misunderstanding but finds that his phone is missing.
The next morning, he assists his friend in sorting out old videos. His friend suddenly asks him why he is so concerned about Kouhei. He replies that although having everything, money and looks, Kouhei lacks confidence because of his hearing disability. He doesn’t realise how special he is and Taichi wants to be there to care for him. He is unaware that Kouhei is at the door while he’s saying all these. His friend alerts him and he is surprised. Turns out Kouhei is only there to return Taichi’s phone which he mistakenly left at his place. He starts to leave and Taichi runs after him calling out to him until he finally stops. Kouhei tells him he didn’t hear anything he said but then reveals that he lied because for some reason, he can only hear his voice. Taichi encourages him not to close off to him and reveal his feelings but Kouhei doesn’t think he will understand but Taichi begs him not to bear the pressure alone. He starts crying and when Kouhei asks why he is crying, he replies that he doesn’t know why.
To his surprise, Kouhei suddenly pulls him close and kisses him. He pulls away and says he now feels relieved he has told him the truth and that what scared him most apart from loosing his hearing was Taichi hating him. He thanks him for everything and leaves.
But Taichi is disturbed and can’t even eat when his grandfather urges him to. He meets Kouhei at their spot the next day much to Kouhei’s surprise as he thought he would hate him and start avoiding him because of his feelings for him but Taichi responds that he thought about it all night but couldn’t find a reason to hate Kouhei. He asks if his spot as his note taker is still available and Kouhei, with tears in his eyes, replies that it is.
In the next episode, Taichi has started taking his note taking tutorials seriously. Later, he texts Kouhei to go camping with him and his friends. Although Kouhei is surprised, he agrees. On the appointed day, Miho joins the group with her cousin who is Taichi’s friend. The two apologise to each other and Kouhei who just arrives sees them together. However, Taichi’s friend clarifies that Miho now has a boyfriend from her part time job.
Taichi is very excited as they go to the camping site with their friends. Kouhei seems awkward so Taichi keeps him company. He even teaches him fishing and talks about going fishing with his father and grandpa. But when Kouhei doesn’t add to the conversation, he thinks he may be bored but Kouhei clarifies that he’s actually happy and that he talks nonsense when he’s happy so he pretends to pull a long face. Taichi advises him not to restrict himself as everyone would be glad to see him having fun. Kouhei promises to do that and for a minute, Taichi stares at him when he isn’t looking, mesmerized by his beautiful smile. He looks away when Kouhei catches him staring.
They enjoy eating fish with their friends. Except for Kouhei getting jealous seeing Taichi with girls, everything is fine. That night, Taichi meets Kouhei outside the cottage as he isn’t able to sleep due to excitement. Kouhei ends up teaching Taichi sign language. When Taichi gets too close, he threatens he will kiss him if he continues acting careless but then seeing Taichi’s flustered expression, he brushes his talk off as a joke and leaves.
While in their room ready to sleep, Taichi keeps thinking of his kiss with Kouhei when Kouhei suddenly tells him he won’t do anything he doesn’t like. Taichi asks what he would do if he tells him he isn’t unwilling but Kouhei doesn’t hear him well and Taichi doesn’t talk further.
The next day after a note taking session, Taichi is exhausted. Kouhei tells him to do as he’s been doing before as he doesn’t want to stress him out. However, Taichi insists explaining that he finds the lecture interesting and wants to be as amazing as the senior note takers.
Taichi’s note taking starts getting better as he has become really fast. Kouhei has finally joined the sign language club and is getting along well with the two females who recruited him. During new year, he and Taichi go out to the temple to pray for their wishes.
Time passes and everyone is in their third year. While seeking for new students to join his club, a young girl mistakenly collides into Taichi, leaving her id card on the ground. He hurries after her to give her the card. Just then, Kouhei appears seemingly knowing the girl, Maya who in turn seems intrigued to know that Taichi is the one Kouhei talked about to her.
