The ninth episode begins with Eun-kyung standing in front of Choi Sa-ra’s door. She is extremely furious, grabbing So ra’s hair as she reprimands her for letting Jae hui see her ultrasound. Both women are in tears and exchanging threats until Choi So Ra manages to enter her apartment, leaving Eun Kyung crying. Eun kyung is picked up by Yu-ri’s mother to be taken to Yu-ri’s house. Yu-ri’s mother comforts Eun-kyung, reassuring her that this difficult time will eventually pass. Back at the office, Yu ri watches Eun kyung’s performance, hoping for her full recovery. After encountering Eun ho that evening, her mood improves.
The next day, Yu-ri and Eun-kyung are tasked with a case involving a client engaged in a romantic relationship with a married man whose wife recently had a baby. The client denies her wrongdoing and claims she was deceived by the man, therefore she refuses to say sorry or provide any reimbursement. Eun-kyung struggles to manage her anger as she stays professional while challenging the client’s unrealistic concept of fairness, which includes disrespecting the man’s pregnant wife in the incident.
As the woman narrates her tale, the show reveals the origins of Ji-sang and Sa-ra’s romantic involvement, initiating when Sa-ra was employed as Eun-kyung’s aide. The beginning of their relationship was caused by a series of circumstances.
Knowing that Eun-kyung is feeling anxious because of the case, Yu-ri gets Woo-jin to assist in boosting her mood as he advices her to bring Eun kyung out to enjoy tteokbokki. They opt to postpone notifying the court about Sa-ra’s pregnancy in order to prioritize Jae-hui’s emotions.
In another place, Ji-sang finds out about Sa-ra’s involvement in Jae-hui finding out about the pregnancy, resulting in a heated confrontation where Ji-sang ultimately breaks up with her, despite Sa-ra’s emotional manipulation. At the same time, Eun-kyung and Jae-hui’s bond starts to improve as they enjoy spending time together, with Eun-kyung picking Jae-hui from her classes. Eun kyung lets her know that she is already aware she knew of the affair before her, and Jae hui is upset that the investigator still revealed it to her. Eun kyung vows to share everything with her from this moment forward. Eun kyung becomes emotional and is unable to respond when Jae hui inquires if Sa ra’s baby will be her legal sibling.
The following day, Yu-ri gets a letter from the accuser – the man’s spouse – who discloses that her husband was unfaithful to her because she “failed to meet his needs” during her pregnancy. In the letter, Eun-kyung understands that the plaintiff desired an apology from their client more than just compensation.
While mediating, Eun-kyung proposes that the plaintiff should receive an apology as no sum of money can alter what has happened in the past. The customer makes a weak apology, which the claimant agrees to. Despite the insincerity of the apology, Eun-kyung attempts to reassure the plaintiff that her client truly regrets their actions, not for their own sake but to assist the plaintiff in moving forward.
When questioned by Eun-kyung and Yu-ri about why she hasn’t left her husband, she explains that she is holding out for an apology from him before she can move on and find closure. This discussion leads Eun-kyung to understand that she might have remained with Ji-sang because she was also expecting an apology.
Following the trial, Yu-ri receives a phone call from the husband of the woman who sued him, who continues to see himself as the victim. However, Yu-ri scolds him and tells him to apologize to his wife and treat her with more respect. Eun kyung asks her out for drinks, confessing that she truly desires a genuine apology from Sa ra and Ji sang. Despite being drunk, Yu Ri can still hear everything. Afterwards, Woo jin and Eun ho encounter them, and Eun ho escorts Yu ri back home while leaving Woo jin with Eun kyung. Eun ho makes a stop at a convenience store where Yu ri confides in him. She is feeling very distressed about how to assist Eun-kyung as her client, as she is aware that the apology Eun-kyung is hoping for might never be given. Eun kyung opens up to Woo jin, revealing that she is unsure of her true desires. Woo jin suggests that she consider her own well-being and tries to restrain from holding her.
The following day, Eun-kyung takes Choi Sa-ra to the office, where Sa-ra kneels down and apologizes to Eun-kyung. Sa-ra appears to be doing it in order to lessen the payment she owes because Eun-kyung had previously taken legal action against her. Nevertheless, Yu-ri eventually discloses that there was no agreement and she simply requested Sa-ra to apologize to Eun-kyung in order for Sa-ra to take pride in being a mother. Even though Eun-kyung doesn’t forgive Sa-ra, it brings her some sense of closure, enabling her to reassure Jae-hui that she acknowledged Sa-ra’s apology. Eun-kyung expressed gratitude to Yu-ri for her actions. Yu ri later pays a visit to her father’s grave, pondering if he had ever desired to say sorry to her and her mother for his actions.
At the conclusion of the episode, Eun-kyung and Jae-hui prepare a meal together. Jae-hui offers an apology to Eun-kyung, confessing through Yu-ri’s narration that she has held herself accountable for her parents’ lack of contentment. Eun-kyung gives her a hug and also says sorry, showing that their difficult relationship is improving.
What a touching episode. Very very touching so much so that I couldn’t help but shed tears. Good partner is undoubtedly one of the best shows this year and it’s all thanks to the phenomenal acting.
