The episode starts with the narrator stating that Jae dislikes men who give her mixed signals. Currently, Jae-rim restrains the uncles attempting to rationalize with Cha-min. They expose who they are and argue that they were only attempting to educate someone unattractive like Jae-rim. Furious, Jae-rim trims their eyebrows and warns to post it on the internet if they bother her once more.
After she and Cha-min depart, Jae-rim starts to cry when she realizes that he has feelings for her. He expresses regret for all things and the mood lightens as she playfully suggests it is a result of being a femme fatale. She admires his ability to locate her and he discloses he is constantly ready for a potential kidnapping. When he was a child, his nanny abducted him but he managed to flee using an umbrella, which is why he always has it with him.
She humorously admits her incompetence with a mace or umbrella and expresses gratitude towards him for assisting her. His emotions towards her intensify, and he desires to reveal his feelings, but he decides to release her.
Jae-rim thinks he has feelings for her but is not admitting it because he believes she is not in his league. She desires a person who embraces her. Regrettably, she arrives home to a disagreement. The family discovered that Dr. Gu gave money to Jae-rim to develop a relationship with Su-jin. However, he has also been observed flirting with other women and only desires to marry a doctor.
Hwa-jin faces Jae-rim and accuses her of being self-centered. So-ra exacerbates the situation by admitting that she is to blame for parenting Jae-rim poorly. Jae-rim apologizes for attempting to be part of their family as she expresses her feelings of being hurt and going in a different direction. Hwa-jin hits her because she is being insolent, and Jae-rim leaves.
Cha-min faces Dan-a, who pretends to issue the kidnapping command in order to appear intimidating. However, it fails because Cha min threatens that he will end the relationship if she crosses the boundary once more. She ultimately retaliates against her uncles.
Regarding Jae-rim, she relocates to her previous residence in a neighboring town. It is rundown, desolate, inoperative and she shivers all night. She arrives at work late in the morning. Cha-min is concerned and requires all employees to participate in self-defense classes. Jae-rim, naturally, chooses to bring him down because she despises men who play with her emotions. He encourages her to display a move and she begins to exhibit her skills. They begin to shove and strike one another.
Do-hong arrives and enthusiastically discusses their studio date, causing Cha-min to become jealous and walk away. By himself, Do-hong confesses to Jae-rim that he has feelings for her while she embraces all of him without judgement. He is still willing to work on his next script. However, Jae-rim is unsure because Do-hong seems to be welcoming towards her, but she is unsure of his intentions. Cha min obviously has feelings for her but is keeping it to himself.
Meanwhile, Cha-min’s overactive imagination has him thinking Do-hong and Jae-rim are making out. He checks in on her and tells her not to get with greasy men like Do-hong. She tries to check his opinions on class and he finds it absurd as it’s not her fault for being poor. In fact, he warns to stay away from Do-hong if he has a classist mindset.
She doesn’t believe Cha-min and to test him, she brings him home to see if he can survive. Both start regretting it but he has camping supplies and they camp outside the house. They get talking and she reveals that her step-family isn’t bad. Instead, Jae-rim feels that she is incompetent, greedy and a troublemaker. Cha-min comforts her that she is just a kid who needs love but has been stuck with a lens of hatred which he hopes to remove. She realises that she pushed away the people who tried to love her like So-ra.
At that moment, Dan-a calls but Cha-min doesn’t pick up. Without her lens of hate, Jae-rim realises that he isn’t avoiding her because of their class but because of his own complicated situation.
In another place, Hwa-jin attacks Dr. Gu for interfering with her family. She is irritated that he attempted to gain their favor with beef, and he discloses that it was Jae-rim who purchased those gifts he bought the father. She received all the other presents as well, but asked him to make it seem like it was from him because she believed the family would feel awkward if they knew it was from her. Hwa-jin is very angry at him. She made sure Jae-rim was strong so she could give him back the one grand, after which they have no more debts to him.
The snow worsens as Jae-rim and Cha-min go indoors. With a single blanket between them, he suggests she goes to his place because they should not sleep next to each other. Even with a severe snow warning, he remains steadfast in his decision. Feeling guilty, she assures she will stay but lightens the mood by teasing about the ancient house’s potential hazards. The deal breaker occurs when his excessive imagination leads him to take her and quickly bring her to his home.
She attempts to enjoy a warm bath at his house but struggles to close the fancy faucet. She has to eventually contact Cha-min, who becomes anxious. He gets sidetracked by her and he tumbles. She attempts to prevent him, but they both stumble and unintentionally lock lips. They begin kissing, but it ends up being only in Cha-min’s imagination. In truth, they both turn red due to the unexpected kiss and he rushes out while attempting to calm his racing heart.
At that instant, Jae-rim receives a phone call from Hwa-jin inviting her to come over for dinner. It appears that the family is concerned about her, so So-ra quickly prepares new side dishes for Jae-rim. In the conclusion of Episode 7 of Dreaming of a Freaking Fairytale, Jae-rim is on the verge of departing when Cha-min pulls at her robe and asks her to stay.
I like the fact that So Ra seems to love Jae rim so much and it’s sad she’s only realising that. Hwa Jin can be strict but that’s just how she shows her affection for others. As for Cha min, he’s so delulu!
