In Episode 7 of Dear Hyeri, Eun-ho makes a bold decision: to live as Hye-ri in order to discover the secret behind her happiness. As she steps into this new role, she begins working at the parking station, where she has her first encounter with Joo-yeon while pretending to be Hye-ri. During their conversation, Eun-ho (as Hye-ri) casually mentions having an older sister, while Joo-yeon explains his recent visit to Hye-ri’s home, claiming he missed her.
As the episode unfolds, we learn that Joo-yeon’s department has organized a dodgeball match, where Eun-ho, still pretending to be Hye-ri, participates as Joo-yeon’s partner. Eun-ho shines in the game, thoroughly enjoying herself. Later, Joo-yeon drops her off at home and hands her Eun-ho’s lost mobile phone, which he had gotten repaired. Eun-ho brushes it off, claiming it belongs to her sister, but Joo-yeon’s growing suspicion becomes evident.
The next day, Eun-ho takes the initiative to visit the Press Director, urging him to reconsider putting Hyun-oh back on the coveted 9 pm news slot. However, her plea is rejected. She also approaches her team manager, who believes Jae-yong might fail as a news anchor, creating a possible opportunity for Hyun-oh to regain his position.
Meanwhile, Hyun-oh faces another setback when he’s asked to move back to his cubicle from his office. Later, the team manager instructs Hyun-oh to take Eun-ho to Media N Seoul’s office for a joint project. It is here that Joo-yeon shocking meets Eun-ho again but this time as a reporter and notices the wound on her hand, a giveaway from the dodgeball day signifying she’s still the same person. This sparks Joo-yeon’s memory of seeing his contact saved on Eun-ho’s phone, prompting him to travel from Busan to Seoul to investigate.
Outside Eun-ho’s house, Joo-yeon confronts her about the lies and pretending to be Hye-ri. It is during this emotional conversation that the truth finally comes out—Eun-ho’s illness and the revelation that Hye-ri does not truly exist. Joo-yeon realizes Eun-ho wasn’t leading a double life and dating both him and Hyun-oh. Despite the shocking truth, Joo-yeon remains steadfast, insisting that he will wait for Hye-ri to return.
Back at the office, Jae-yong surprisingly excels during his first 9 pm news broadcast. The following morning, Eun-ho learns about his success. In a flashback sequence, we see how hard Hyun-oh had worked to secure the 9 pm slot, driven by a desire to make his mother proud. With this memory fresh in her mind, Eun-ho tries to contact Hyun-oh and decides to visit him. However, she overhears a colleague mention that Hyun-oh is getting married. The episode ends with a shocking moment as Eun-ho locks eyes with Hyun-oh.
In the epilogue, we see Eun-ho writing a heartfelt diary entry to Hye-ri, titled Dear Hyeri.
In Episode 8 of Dear Hyeri, the story takes an emotional turn with the heartbreaking revelation that one of the grandmothers who raised Hyun-oh is diagnosed with breast cancer. Her final wish, poignantly expressed, is for Hyun-oh to get married and start a family. This wish brings us to Eun Cho-Rong, a new resident who has recently joined the family. Cho-Rong, eager to fulfill the grandmother’s wish, offers to marry Hyun-oh, explaining that it has always been her dream to be part of his family.
As the scene shifts, we see Eun-ho overhearing the shocking news of Hyun-oh’s potential wedding. Overcome with distress, she finds it difficult to focus at work, eventually botching a live broadcast due to her distracted thoughts about Hyun-oh marrying someone else. Later, on a rooftop, Eun-ho confronts Hyun-oh, her emotions laid bare as she recalls their painful breakup. She reminds him that their relationship ended because he wasn’t ready for marriage, and now, she’s devastated by the idea that he’s considering marrying someone else.
Meanwhile, at the office, Joo-yeon is deep in thought, wrestling with his feelings. Seeking comfort, he convinces Hye-yoon to join him at their favorite udon restaurant. While there, Joo-yeon muses aloud, reflecting on how he has only ever loved one person with all his heart. He confides in Hye-yoon, expressing that if Hye-ri were to return to his life, he would treat her better this time.
The next day, Eun-ho’s emotional spiral continues. She reminisces about her early days with Hyun-oh, particularly a tender moment when they had dinner after he lost his mother’s necklace. Consumed by these memories, she misses her stop and arrives late to the radio station, which results in her being fired from all the programs by the press director.
At Media N Seoul, Hye-yoon shares an interesting perspective with Joo-yeon. She explains that it’s possible to have two hearts, revealing how one of their colleagues is casually involved with her while dating another woman. This revelation seems to spark something in Joo-yeon, leaving him pondering his own feelings.
Back at home, Eun-ho begins writing in her diary, pouring out her despair with the first entry reading, “I hate myself.” Meanwhile, Hyun-oh visits her apartment, reflecting on the painful memory of their breakup on the stairs. However, he ultimately decides not to see her and leaves without speaking.
The following day at the office, Eun-ho is notably absent. Instead, we are presented with a diary entry from Hye-ri, stating that since Eun-ho has failed at finding happiness, Hye-ri will be taking over.
In the epilogue, Joo-yeon has a pivotal meeting with Hyun-oh, where he reveals a startling truth: he is in a relationship with Eun-ho’s second personality, Hye-ri.
What gripping episodes…I wonder how the three would navigate their complicated relationship
