The 8th episode starts with Kyung-soo’s truck flipping onto its side after someone tampered with the ratchet buckle. Kyung-soo, who is badly injured, is taken away, and at that moment Yeon-ho sees the newspaper article reporting Hyun-soo’s death in the truck.
Afterwards, So hee and Yeon ho have a conversation with Kyung-soo at the hospital. In front of So-hee, he remains silent, but when she leaves briefly, he accuses Yeon-ho of attempting to murder him but he cannot tell Yeon-ho why he would want to kill him. However, Yeon-ho discovers that all individuals related to the case also received the news article.
Afterwards, Yeon-ho asks Dong-gi regarding Seo Dong-woo, the driver who informed them about Kyung-soo. Yeon-ho comes to the conclusion that the person responsible was most likely dressed in a blue hat and standing under the yellow light deceived the eye into appearing green. The team stays up all night searching for another victim of the same truck sabotage.
At the same time, captain Jung examines a roster of guests that came to the station and pauses at the name Lee Jung-sub, the late Lee Hyunsoo’s father.
The TCI team discovers two additional victims who have experienced similar crimes. They also discover a connection to a business known as CY Logistics, which later rebranded as Svaha. Captain Jung’s final assessment is that CEO Kang Chan-seok is engaging in fraudulent activities through the sale and purchase of license plates.
They meet with the victims but get the impression they are withholding information as they are not being specific.
Yeon-ho visits Kyung Soo at the hospital and asks him to be honest after he shows signs of relief that the accident was unrelated to the letter. Especially if he is unaware of any details regarding the accident.
After he leaves, So-hee tells Yeon ho that she has noticed a relationship between him and Kyung-soo and is waiting for him to be honest with her.
Dong-gi and Hyun-kyung have a conversation with CEO Kang Chan-seok but it’s obvious that he is concealing information. As he enters his office, Dong-gi notices a hat he recognizes before the door closes. He and Hyun kyung listen in as he pressures a driver to sign a consent form holding them solely responsible and insisting on overloading the trucks. Should the driver refuse to sign, he will have to resign. The driver angrily leaves and Dong-gi recognises him as Seo Dong-woo.
So hee and Yeon ho return to Nam Jae-hoon who is the only one to speak the truth. He informs Yeon-ho and So-hee that all drivers signed an unjust contract and once, there was one driver who had to cover all expenses after an accident. Due to this, the drivers banded together and hired a lawyer to take legal action against the company.
However, their assertion was unsuccessful, and all the charges were withdrawn except for Seo Young-chul, the driver involved in the accident. One day, when Seo Young Chul arrived at the office, he discovered that the entire place was deserted. Realizing he had been abandoned, he saw no options and ultimately took his own life. Jae-hoon now informs the investigators that there was another driver who was involved – Woo Gil-soon, who is Dong-gi’s father.
Hyun-kyung later discovers that Seo Dong-woo is Young-chul’s son but unfortunately, he is now in the same place as Gil-soon. The team quickly arrives and discovers that Gil-soon is surprisingly fine. He acknowledges that Dong-woo recently came to see him.
In a flashback, Dong-woo asked Gil-soon to visit his father’s grave whenever he has the chance. It appears that Gil-soon was not punished by Seo Dong Woo because he was the only person to apologize to his father for abandoning him.
Everyone is now aware of who the next target is. CEO Kang Chan-seok. The detectives hurry over to save him, but by that time, Dong-woo crashes his truck into Chan-seok’s car. Hyun-kyung arrives and brings him down as he is attacking Chan seok. He is arrested and taken away as Dong gi pitifully watches him.
Later on, Dong-woo confesses his crimes at the police station. He reveals his reasons. He had tried to gather proof against Chan-seok but failed due to the corruption of the police, so he opted to seek vengeance instead. Dong-gi tells him, he remembers meeting each him when they were children because their fathers worked in the same industry. But then, he shows Dong-woo the results of his actions by playing a clip from the dashcam of the man who died in his car because of the faulty buckle. Dong-woo becomes aware of his error and cries regretfully.
Afterwards, Dong-gi speaks with his father and inquires as to why he didn’t mention this earlier. Gil-soon expressed his fear and guilt for abandoning his friend. He wished to keep his cowardice a secret from his family. Dong-gi reassures him that he can rely on him for assistance now.
At the same time, Kyung-soo discovers that his truck is beyond repair and he doesn’t have the money to junk it.
Commissioner Pyo contacts Captain Jung at the police station to inquire about the progress of the investigation into Jae-young’s death. Captain Jung has not discovered a lot so far which leads Commissioner Pyo to get more suspicious of him. Captain Jung comes back to the TCI and finally gives them the assigned case. Everyone is surprised that Jae young is dead.
In the meantime, in need of cash, Kyung-soo abruptly enters Jung-wook’s office. He wants 300 million Won from Jung-wook and threatens to expose all details of the case that occurred a decade ago. He inadvertently admits he also had the news article exposing he lied to Jung wook and Jae young when he they confronted him. Even though Jung wook is threatening to murder him, Kyung Soo is more focused on staying alive and doesn’t care if he dies.
Yeon-ho talks to Captain Jung, informing him about the letters and his relationship with Jae-young, Jung-wook, and Kyung-soo. He observed a black vehicle in the rest stop location where he encountered Kyung-soo. Captain Jung mentioned that he will investigate the correlation between the accident and Jae-young’s death.
At a bar, Commissioner Pyo, Tae-ju, and Jae-young’s father come together. Tae-ju, instructed by Commissioner Pyo, presents CCTV footage of Lee Jung-sub (father of Lee Hyun-soo) tailing Jae-young. This leads them to consider Lee Jung sub a suspect in his own demise.
Captain Jung encounters Lee Jung-sub and queries him regarding the death of Jae young. Despite being aware of Jae-young’s death, his reaction is vague.
At home, Yeon-ho displays pictures of the individuals connected to Lee Hyunsoo’s crash on a window. One of them is Captain Jung, who was the initial detective assigned to the case. Simultaneously, Captain Jung discovers a video of the perpetrator returning from Jae-young’s vehicle. He’s walking with a limp and relying on a stick/crutch for assistance. Coincidentally, behind Captain Jung, there are crutches leaning against the wall.
So-hee’s father is taking her to work and we find out that he is now working for a taxi company instead of being self-employed. Afterwards, she receives a notification regarding a campaign against unauthorized taxis in Gangnam.
Jung-wook receives a call from his father while he is partying and drinking, instructing him to take Kyung-soo to a particular place. Commissioner Pyo keeps his plans secret.
Kyung-soo receives the location and goes there believing he will receive the requested money, but he fails to see a car trailing him.
At the moment, the TCI is in Gangnam, anticipating the enforcement action against unauthorized taxis and drug-related activities. They talk about how Tae-ju failed to close the case during his previous attempt.
Predictably, Kyung-soo encounters a group of men encircling him upon arrival at the destination. He was beaten but still able to escape. He dials Yeon-ho for assistance but is interrupted when a black car suddenly collides with him.
So-hee receives a notification of yet another accident and they head to the location. Regrettably, the taxi belongs to So-hee’s father and he has sustained serious injuries. The episode concludes with Soo hee crying loudly upon seeing her father.
I love the fast pacing of the show as it doesn’t spend time on unnecessary scenes. Really enjoyable.
