Episode 7 of Cinderella at 2 AM opens with Ju-won surprisingly encountering Yoon-seo and Seong-min together. Instead of reacting angrily, he wishes them well and walks away, leaving Yoon-seo confused. It turns out Ju-won is trying a new strategy—distancing himself to eventually win Yoon-se back, moving to a different office space to give her space.
Following advice from his brother Si-won, Ju-won begins to play the role of the “bad guy,” challenging Yoon-seo’s ideas, which frustrates her. Meanwhile, Yoon-seo becomes uncomfortable when she sees Ju-won with another woman, Mi-jin. Though Ju-won is hesitant, Si-won encourages him to make Yoon-seo jealous. Mi-jin, who arrives early to visit Si-won, brings macarons, sparking a sweet interaction between them that leads to an Instagram post.
Mi-jin snaps a picture of Si-won with a macaron and shares it online. At first, Si-won is annoyed, thinking Mi-jin only came by for social media clout. However, when he sees the flood of positive comments, his mood shifts, and he feels unexpectedly pleased.
Later, Mi-jin apologizes and deletes the post, which leaves Si-won disappointed. But she soon confesses that she shared it because she thought he looked cute, softening Si-won’s heart. They take another picture together, this time posting it with genuine affection.
Yoon-seo starts to believe Ju-won has moved on and reminisces about their time together, especially her birthday, expecting him to surprise her. But when he doesn’t show up, she grows sad. Meanwhile, Ju-won is holding back, feeling sad about staying away on her special day. When Si-won gives Ju-won the go-ahead, Ju-won decides to propose, but before he can contact Yoon-seo, she leaves early after hearing about her mother’s death.
It’s revealed that Yoon-seo’s mother was neglectful, standing by while Yoon-seo was abused by her father. After her father’s death during college, Yoon-seo refused to take on his debts when her mother came to her. Ju-won, worried when he can’t reach Yoon-seo, senses something is wrong. Seong-min, who finds Yoon-seo drinking alone, learns that despite her tough exterior, Yoon-seo still cares deeply for Ju-won.
Seong-min calls Ju-won, who picks up a sleeping Yoon-seo and takes her home. The next day, Yoon-seo informs her brother Ji-suk about their mother’s passing. Though Ji-suk urges her not to attend the funeral, Yoon-seo still goes but doesn’t pay her respects. Ju-won shows up to support her, and despite Yoon-seo trying to push him away, she eventually breaks down in tears in his arms, ending the episode on an emotional note.
