Bts V And Jungkook Sue Youtuber Sojang For Defamation

BIGHIT MUSIC, BTS’ V and Jungkook have taken legal action against YouTuber Sojang for defamation and attended the initial court hearing today. According to the most recent information, she has rejected all allegations, stating that YouTube videos regarding the two K-pop artists were made for the benefit of the public.

The initial court session for the defamation case of BTS’ V and Jungkook against Sojang took place on August 23 at the 12th Civil Division of the Seoul Western District Court. During the trial, BIGHIT MUSIC alleged that Sojang had created untrue information and shared it online to make a substantial profit by defaming K-pop singers.

BTS’ agency announced that they are suing for damages due to false information and violation of personal rights.

Surprisingly, Sojang’s side refuted all the accusations, shocking everyone.

Their statement was, “Although we recognize the video’s creation, based on the approach and material, it only constitutes an opinion and is not defamation through the disclosure of untrue information.”

Sojang also stated that the information is not untrue, and even if it is, her team does not consider it illegal except for making videos for the general public’s curiosity. Her legal representatives also contended that according to BIGHIT MUSIC, her actions did not violate personal rights to the extent alleged.

At the same time, her surprising reaction to the allegations caught internet users off guard, as she is also dealing with other legal challenges for harming the reputations of K-pop stars. In an internet forum, her blaming the public for her actions received harsh criticism from fans. Numerous people requested that she cease being uncooperative and acknowledge the accusations.

During March, V and Jungkook, along with BIGHIT MUSIC, took legal action by filing a lawsuit for defamation against person A, who is the person running the YouTube channel Sojang. The agency’s complaint alleged that she made harmful videos and requested 90 million kRW for the harm and interference with business.

In the beginning of 2022, the agency lodged their first complaint against Sojang. However, the inquiry was put on hold during that period. Following HYBE’s unwavering determination, the case was recently reconsidered.

Furthermore, Sojang faced legal action for reportedly tarnishing the reputation of Kang Daniel, Jang Wonyoung from IVE, aespa, and other musicians.
