Bitter Sweet Hell Episode 6 Recap

The sixth episode starts with Lee Se-na under police investigation for allegedly setting her third partner on fire.

It is exposed that she shows narcissistic traits and has a warped view of love. Se-na was provoked to push her partner into the fire after he stole her birthday cake. The truthfulness of her parents and older sister dying in a car crash is also unclear.

Se-na’s obsession with Young-won could be more profound than originally thought. She is observed watching a program hosted by Young-won, envisioning herself as one of the contestants. During the program, Young-won suggests ending harmful family relationships and criticizes the participant for her actions, causing Se-na to feel offended, thinking to herself what type of family Young won has that causes her to behave in such a manner.

After that moment, Se-na comes up with a scheme to show Young-won she is mistaken. As a patient, she goes to Jae-jin’s clinic, understands his situation, and eventually gains his affection. In one of their chats, Jae-jin admits that his mother has given up everything for him, so he couldn’t turn down the career she had chosen for him – to be a doctor even though he is scared of blood. He also believes that Young-won is unable to comprehend him.

In a shocking incident, Se-na fed pigeons before decapitating one and sending its head to Young-won. She visited Young-won as a patient, observed her, and followed her family members to gather their secrets for future use.

During their one-year anniversary, Dr. Oh was following Jae-jin when Se-na accused him of stalking and plotting to kill her. S had hit Dr Oh and while she was unconscious, Se-na persuaded Jae-jin to depart from the vacation home and suggested a scheme to stage his death in order for him to gain his freedom as she put it. Jae-jin gave his consent.

This results in the moment when Se-na attempts to drown Jae-jin in the hotel pool but stops when she sees the housekeeping staff nearby.

We go back to Young-won and Sa-gang’s discussion where Young-won chooses to concentrate on rescuing her son and has no interest in Jae-jin. Do-hyeon finds out about his father’s infidelity and stands by his mother. Young-won, on her show, urges viewers to practice kindness and refrain from spreading harmful gossip about others’ families.

Sa-gang tells Kang-sung to retrieve Se-na’s items from their vacation house at Soft Hands noodle restaurant. While doing so, they discover one of Sa-gang’s mysterious suspense novels. Yeong-min’s visit to Sa-gang showed that after her father passed away, Yeong-won focused all her attention on Jae-jin’s family, so much she grew distant from her brother and sister so the Choi family should be grateful to her.

At the Choi residence, Go-myu’s assistant gives Yeong-won a package that holds another one of Sa-gang’s books. Yeong-won thinks Se-na is revealing her family’s lies and goes to see Sa-gang to share this information. Sa-gang ignores her inquiries about dishonesty. She is of the opinion that Se-na is focusing on her family because of what happened in her books. They make the choice to safeguard their kids.

Afterward, Sa-gang chooses to investigate Se-na’s residence for evidence.

Yeong-won tracks Do-hyun and discovers he has been deceiving her. Rather than going to his exclusive school, he spends time with Tae-o and his girlfriend. Her suspicions towards Tae-o then intensifies.

Her brother Yeong-min investigates Tae-o’s background and verifies that he is enrolled in a reputable college and is well-regarded. During Sa-gang’s absence, Dr. Oh goes to the Choi residence and encounters Tae-o, who falsely convinces her of Jae-jin’s love. During the meeting with Sa-gang, Dr. Oh gets kicked out of the clinic because Sa-gang figures out that Dr. Oh is hoping for Young-won to divorce Jae-jin so he can marry her.

Later in the evening, Sa-gang brings Young-won and Kang-sung to investigate Se-na’s residence. They come across disturbing paintings and art pieces in her residence. During their journey back home, Se-na is observed burning the Choi family photos at a certain location, and Jae-jin arrives back home. Young-won does not greet him; instead, she locks the car doors to prevent Sa-gang from leaving and steers the car directly towards Jae-jin.

It’s getting interesting. I was almost giving up on the drama but thank goodness I did. However, Young won appears too stiff. She should expose more of her emotion.
