Bitter Sweet Hell Episode 2 Recap

Yeong won and her husband receive the joint award for the best doctor in their respective field. As Sa Kang watches them, she’s reminded of the conversation she had with Yeong won who caught her dancing in her room. Yeong won tells her about what her husband did and asks if she knew about it to which Sa Kang denies it. Yeong won is very bitter enough to expose it but Sa Kang advises her not to because everything she has built, the family she has tried to protect will be destroyed.

After breakfast, Jae Jin tells Yeong won that his mother might be acting all happy when she’s actually sad over her husband’s death but Yeong won doesn’t think that’s the case but promises him to take care of Sa Kang. After seeing him and her son off, she is heading back inside the house when Sa Kang calls to ask for lemonade and biscuits. As Yeong won hurries to get it for her, Sa Kang sighs at the unpleasant comment towards her novel with many bashing her writing and claiming it has no soul. However, one particular fan, her friend defends her but another seems to know her personally.

Yeong won returns with the lemonade and biscuits but can’t help but state suspiciously at Sa Kang from afar.

Meanwhile, Jae Jin is suffering from a panic attack and can’t even bear to do surgery. Dr On does it instead.

The family gather around prosecutor Choi’s grave to celebrate his 49th death anniversary. Strangely enough, he is buried beside Yeong won’s father. As they are making a toast to him, professor Choi’s sister and her son enter and create a scene. She deliberately tries to annoy Sa Kang but she handles her gracefully. When Aunty tells her she wants to be buried in that site, Sa Kang tells her to get the money to buy a plot there from her husband’s numerous lovers.

Just as they are leaving, Aunty takes Yeong won aside and tells her that her mother in law may have a hand in her husband’s death considering that the way he died was written in one of her old novels.

One day, after a consultation, Yeong won notices a picture of her family on her desk but it’s numbered on how they would die. In the next scene, we see Lee se na in a dimly lit room. She brings out one of Hong Sa Kang’s books on a shelf and reads while also drawing some scary symbols on her iPad.

Yeong won goes to the courier service center to find out who might have sent the picture but her effort is futile. She suddenly gets a call from her son Do hyun’s school teacher. When she arrives, she learns that Do Hyun isn’t doing well with his studies, especially math and tends to keep to himself a lot. On their way home, Yeong won tries to get Do Hyun to open up to her but he’s closed up.

Meanwhile, Sa Kang visits her old friend and asks him to carry out a favor for her. Next, we see him guarding himself and wearing a camera before leaving the restaurant.

Upon arriving home, Sa Kang and Jae Jin introduce Yeong won to Tae Oh, Jae Jin’s friend whom she has already met before but she feels very uncomfortable with his presence in the house and with how close he is with her husband. Tae Oh offers to teach Do Hyun math and Jae Jin tries to convince Yeong won to allow Tae Oh get close to their family. But Yeong won is suspicious because she doesn’t know who his parents are, especially since she always knows everyone close to her husband. But Jae Jin brushes it aside and shows Tae Oh and Do hyun having fun playing baseball.

Tae oh is using baseball to teach Do Hyun math. But they are suddenly interrupted by Mr An and there seems to be an awkward tension between Mr An and Tae Oh. (Everyone is acting very strange at this point)

Lee Se na comes for a consultation with Yeong won who asks her about her relationship with her father in law. Se na refuses to tell her that leaving Yeong won very uncomfortable. She suggests she find another doctor but Se na insists on getting treated by her and seems to be intentionally provoking Yeong won as she asks if her and her family are happy. Satisfied that she had gotten Yeong won riled up, she leaves and Aunty arrives soon after to give Yeong won a copy of Hong Sa Kang’s book Murder in a frame where the exact murder scene of her husband was written down. Yeong won asks permission to read the book and Aunty happily grants her.

Her suspicions of her mother in law heightens after she goes to the police and finds out that Sa Kang rejected an autopsy to be done on her husband. At home, she even finds Sa Kang snooping around the area where her husband died. Sa Kang sees her book in her hand and asks if she’s suspecting her. Yeong won in turn asks why she rejected the autopsy. Sa Kang responds it was better for the public to think that her husband died from a rock than by murder.

Yeong won is extremely bothered by this and when her husband Jae Jin asks her what the problem is, she tells him about the packages she has been receiving. Jae Jin thinks it’s just from a hater. He informs her he would be attending a plastic surgery colloquium which he always does every year but the next day, Yeong won recieves images on her phone, showing her husband with a strange woman. Yeong won heads to the hotel where her husband says the colloquium takes place but it turns out nothing of such was happening. Jae Jin even calls and lies that he would be coming home late due to the colloquium unaware that Yeong won has discovered the truth.

She keeps her suspicions to herself and that night, while Jae Jin is asleep, she tries to unlock his phone but can’t. Then she goes to his car to check his footage but as she’s doing so, she hears a phone ringing. She finds it and answers it, shocked that it’s her brother’s phone and he had forgotten it in his car. She demands to know what he was doing with his brother in law and her brother replies that they hung out in Yang Pyeong which turns out to be the location where the supposed affair took place. Yeong won doesn’t sleep for the rest of the night as she digs deep into Jae Jin’s records.

In the morning, she pretends perfectly well in front of him but in private, she’s absorbed in her thoughts so much so her secretary notices. Just then, she recieves a package which happens to be from her stalker. She has her secretary open it and it’s simply a cut out structure of a building.

Yeong won spends a long time trying to figure out what it was. Upon closer inspection, she sees an address and when she checks it on the internet, she is surprised to find that it’s the address of her old family house. Yeong won recalls feeling creeped out by Sa Kang who was watching her playing baseball with her husband while her parents happily looked on.

She drives over there but gets the shock of her life upon seeing Dr on lying on the floor with blood flowing from her head. Yeong won is startled when she hears Sa Kang tell her that Dr on isn’t dead. She appears in front of her and Yeong won looks like her soul just left her body.

Creepy! Creepy! Creepy! Everyone is creepy right from Sa Kang, Tae oh and Se na. It just feels like someone is just playing mind games here. I’m really enjoying the suspense in this drama.
