Bad Memory Eraser Episode 9 Recap

The 9th episode starts with Gun being angry and questioning why everyone is keeping his accident a secret from him. Ju-yeon claims it’s on his behalf and persists on bringing him to the hospital for a pain evaluation.

A CAT scan is performed and Han reassures Ju-yeon that they will address the side effects. Tae-oh eavesdrops and then resolves to investigate the potential side effects.

In the meantime, CEO Hong instructs Shin to extend the contract or he will involve the authorities. While intoxicated, Shin hires two unknown individuals to physically assault him. The bartender summons Ju-yeon, and Gun, who is sedated, insists on going with her. She witnesses Shin being assaulted at the bar, triggering PTSD from her father’s killing. Gun suddenly appears and uses a racket to attack the strangers.

Ju-yeon warns she will report them, so they flee. Naturally, Gun dozes off at that moment while Ju-yeon finds it challenging to bring the brothers home. She tends to their injuries while her heart races while looking after Gun. The following day, he becomes wary of Ju-yeon and Shin, thinking they are being suspicious while they attempt to gauge his memory.

In the meantime, Shi-on is required to film an advertisement for a constipation medication, but she feels upset because her classmates mock her and draw on her desk. She leaves quickly and Gun attempts to handle it by speaking with Chairman Won. Nevertheless, he is shocked to discover that CEO Hong is favoring Shin over him because of Shin’s contract renewal.

In another location, Mrs. Kyung scolds Sae-yan for drinking and wandering through the countryside. She instructs her to return home, but Sae-yan declines. Instead, she arrives at the Athlete’s Village in her new role as the official interpreter for the Italian coach. Shin is shocked that Ju-yeon suggested her and advises her to resign.

He partially reveals that CEO Gun is his brother and Ju-yeon is his first love, so Sae-yan must keep his distance. She lacks comprehension and mentions that her actions are solely driven by her quest to find her first sweetheart. He informs her in a disrespectful manner that perhaps he is not interested in being located, which makes her appear unhappy.

Regarding Ju-yeon, she offers assistance by advising Shi-on to ignore teasing from others. She advises her to console herself, a suggestion that Shi-on deems absurd. However, she still consents to the commercial. Gun advises her not to push herself, but she insists on doing so in order to ensure that the sponsors keep funding her coaching.

After dealing with the Shi-on issue, Gun invites Ju-yeon to have a meal together. She attempts to act nonchalant but she is feeling thrilled. He appears casual yet also anxious as he waits for her at the street stall. However, Shin intercepts Ju-yeon. Instead of leaving, Sae-yan arrives and chooses to keep him company, which irritates him.

He desires to depart but she pulls him back by mentioning that Ju-yeon has a dislike for him. However, she only drinks heavily and worries about her initial romance. He provides her with solace and she is charmed by him, expressing that she wouldn’t cause him pain if she were his initial love. Before she departs, she mentions that Ju-yeon looks after him and he feels content.

At the same time, Shin invites Ju-yeon to a restaurant to hand over Gun’s diary to her. He chooses to inform her about Sae-yan in order for her to convince her to keep her distance so Gun doesn’t remember. Shin attempts to make advances and dine with Ju-yeon, but she prefers to be direct. He ultimately hands over Gun’s former timetable journal to her and she appears disappointed.

She toys with her food and appears unenthusiastic. Shin inquires about Sae-yan, and Ju-yeon reveals she has never undertaken such rigorous work. He ultimately chooses to keep it to himself because he believes Sae-yan will resign in the near future.

They eventually discuss Gun’s childhood, reminiscing about him eating jelly while evading the coach. Sadly, Shin realizes that Ju-yeon is much livelier when discussing Gun. She asserts that Gun is her focus and Shin is relieved that she is not his true first love. Her expression is one of sadness as she gives her consent.

Both Gun and Ju-yeon return home feeling exhausted and unhappy because their dinner was spoiled. She gives him a cup of coffee and they unintentionally drink from the same can. They proceed to keep drinking and eventually doze off next to one another. Upon waking, she is surprised by the proximity. Upon touching his face, he awakens and she promptly slaps him in order to conceal her motives.

Gun, fully conscious, makes the decision to visit Shi-on’s school in the middle of the night. Ju-yeon is afraid of the dark and finds it amusing as he grips her hand. They hide the insults written on Shi-on’s desk and paint over them with the Korean flag. Ju-yeon finds herself admiring him, feeling sad that he cannot see her true self as they depart. In order to verify the authenticity of her emotions, she embraces him.

I am happy that Ju yeon is finally reciprocating Gun’s feelings. A little too late if I must say. Poor shin but I hope he will get over it when he discovers because a triangular love regarding brothers isn’t nice at all.
