Perfect Family Episode 4 Recap

Hyun-min requests Sun-hui to inspect the room in her home. Upon entering the house, Eun-joo inquires about the well-being of everything. Eun-joo refuses to disclose any information about the man to Sun-hui when she questions his identity. Sun-hui enters her room and contemplates the remark made by Hyun-min.

Later that evening, she attempts to peer into the room Hyun-min had spoken of, but hurried back to her own room when her parents exited their room. The day after, Hyun-woo discusses Kyeong-ho’s death and their friendship with Sun-hui. He affirms his presence for her and acknowledges that Sun-hui is keeping something from him.

Sun-hui and Hyun-woo skip half of their school day in order to quickly go to her house. Sun-hui gives Eun-joo a call and finds out that her mother is at the grocery store. Using the opportunity of her mother’s absence, she attempts to enter the first-floor room while she is away. Sun-hui searches her parents’ room and Jin-hyeok’s desk in search of a key to the room.

In a childhood memory, Jin-hyeok advises Sun-hui against entering the room. Sun-hui gathers her bravery and attempts to unlock the door, but is unsuccessful. In the end, she requests Hyun-woo’s assistance in entering the room through the window with a ladder. Sun-hui attempts to open the window from the exterior of the residence when Jin-hyeok appears at that location.

Sun-hui manages to enter the room while Hyun-woo keeps Jin-hyeok and Eun-joo occupied. Upon entering the room, Sun-hui is surprised to find that it resembles a boy’s bedroom. Sun-hui grabs a picture frame that is inside the room.

Simultaneously, Hyun-woo unsuccessfully diverts Sun-hui’s parents’ attention, causing them to quickly enter the house in search of Sun-hui. Eun-joo informs Jin-hyeok that Sun-hui is absent from her room. Jin-hyeok removes the key to the upstairs bedroom from his pocket and is preparing to open it when Sun-hui emerges from the shower wearing her bathrobe. She informs her parents that she is showering and then heads to her room.

Eun-joo investigates the bathroom to verify if Sun-hui took a shower and becomes wary upon discovering the spotless dustbin. Sun-hui goes to her room and gazes at the photo frame she acquired from the sealed room.

That evening, Sun-hui discusses with Eun-joo her adoption and questions the decision to adopt a girl instead of a boy. Sun-hui holds herself responsible for Eun-joo and Jin-hyeok losing touch with their relatives. Eun-joo shouts at Sun-hui, telling her to cease speaking in that manner.

That evening, Eun-joo informs Jin-hyeok of her discussion with Sun-hui. Jin-hyeok proposes advancing their plan sooner. The following day, Sun-hui informs Hyun-woo that she plans to see someone after classes. Hyun-woo follows her and they both reach an ancient house.

The steward finds out Sun-hui’s name and gives permission for the children to come in. He summons the homeowner, who is an elderly woman in a wheelchair. Sun-hui informs Hyun-woo that the lady is her grandmother. Sun-hui attempts to communicate with her grandmother but is faced with a hostile reaction.

Upon viewing the photo frame Sun-hui presented to her, she sees a family picture including Jin-hyeok, Eun-joo, her grandmother, and a teenage boy. Sun-hui’s inquiries about the boy in the photo upset the grandmother. She throws Sun-hui out of the house and hurls a glass vase, injuring her.

Hyun-woo accompanies Sun-hui and assists in caring for her wound. He also attempts to comfort her and expresses his emotions regarding Sun-hui keeping secrets about Kyeong-ho’s death from him. He comforts Sun-hui and refers to her as a dear friend whom he values. He takes Sun-hui back to her house.

During the evening, Sun-hui records in her diary that Hyun-woo is the sole individual she can rely on. A memory is shown of Sun-hui receiving a birthday present from her parents in middle school: a new journal. A couple of days later, Sun-hui comes home from school upset. Jin-hyeok looks through her journal and learns about the bully bothering her. One day, Sun-hui hears gossip about the girl who tormented her. One of Sun-hui’s acquaintances mentioned that the bully had passed away. The scene shifts back to the current time as Sun-hui departs from home to rendezvous with Hyun-woo. Jin-hyeok’s parents become wary and he heads to Sun-hui’s room.

In his internet browsing history, he discovers that Sun-hui has been searching for adoption certificates and death certificates. He also discovers a journal entry where Sun-hui declares that Hyun-woo is the sole person she has faith in. Close to her home, Sun-hui informs Hyun-woo that she has to go somewhere alone.

Hyun-woo tries to assist her and the two have a conversation. Simultaneously, the police monitor Sun-hui. In the end, Sun-hui gathers the courage to confess the truth to Hyun-woo about the accident that took Kyeong-ho’s life. Hyun-woo is curious about why Sun-hui didn’t inform the police about Soo-yeon murdering Kyeong-ho.

Sun-hui refrains from disclosing her parents’ potential connection to the fire that led to the death of Kyeong-ho’s family. Sun-hui declines to discuss it with Hyun-woo. Nevertheless, the following day, Sun-hui receives a text from an unfamiliar number. The individual identifies as Soo-yeon and requests Sun-hui to meet her outside the school. Sun-hui goes outdoors, but doesn’t see anyone.

In the epilogue, Sun-hui’s grandmother is depicted gazing at the photo frame. The steward states that in the 25 years he has worked for her, he has never witnessed her this upset before. Grandma recounts a situation where she discovered her son being tormented by his peers.

She informs the steward that her focus on growing her business caused her to neglect her son. The steward is left surprised at the end of the episode upon discovering such a personal piece of information about his master.

Creepy as hell! I am very curious about the hidden motives in this series? Who is that boy in the picture frame and what happened to him? Why does grandma seem to hate Sun hui so much? What is her story? I’m looking forward to recapping the next one for you guys. Thanks for reading.
