The fourth episode starts with a young Mi-rae enjoying a game of ball with her dad. She informs him of her mother’s ultimatum about dating athletes and questions why her dad has more breaks than her at work, but he disproves it by purchasing a new bicycle for her. His way of expressing love has always been by purchasing items for her, but now she refuses even when he tries to buy groceries for her at a store.
While styling his hair, Jeong in asks Hyeon jae when his sister started having conflicts with their father and he answers it was long before they lost all their money.
Currently, Ae-yeon is caught off guard as the residents attempt to manipulate their way back into her favor after badmouthing her. Ae-yeon responds with a backhanded acceptance, indicating that their nosiness has been constant throughout their time living there, making this situation nothing new.
While at the villa, she encounters Moo-jin, who is unsettled when he discovers she has contacted his sister, who is unaware of his riches or purchase of the villa, causing doubt in his entire narrative. She thought he had been living with her for a year, but it seems that is not true. Ae yeon definitely has doubts about Moo jin.
At the same time, Tae-pyeong welcomes his father as he comes to visit the place where he is staying. He wishes for his son to leave the security position, but Tae-pyeong declines. Tae pyeong informs his father that he accepted the security job because he was missing him. His father wants him to come back home and learn the family business, but he refuses despite his father’s emotions. On that day, he comes across Mi rae receiving advice from her neighbor Jin hui to marry and have grandchildren for her mother. He observes how her neighbors always bring up her father, causing her stress, to the point where she informs one of them that she intends to change her last name, which surprises Tae pyeong.
Mi-rae chooses to release her anger at the tae-kwon-do studio where she coincidentally encounters Tae pyeong. She certainly has a knack for breaking boards and finds relief in releasing stress through this activity. Tae-pyeong makes a remark and then removes a piece of wood from Mi-rae’s hair creating tension.
At the same time, Moo-jin manages to reach Jae-geol. Following the beverages, the residents are being much friendlier towards him and even giving him small gifts. However, not everyone is convinced of his honesty, as Ae-yeon and Lee Jeong-hyeok remain highly suspicious.
Following his excessive alcohol consumption that evening, Moo-jin accidentally encounters Mi-rae and Tae-pyeong while they are walking home. He’s in a total drunk state and is assisted into the taxi to go home, where he cautions Tae Pyeong to compensate for the kick he received. Mi-rae’s frustration leads her to lash out at the nearby punching machine in anger. She inquired Tae pyeong if he had an opponent he could never beat and he responded that there was one whom he consistently lost to by one point but finally triumphed over in his final bout.
Mi-rae maintains a strong connection with Ae-yeon and actively prevents her father from trying to build a relationship with Ae-yeon. Everything builds up to the point where the two compete hurrying home with flowers in hand to see who gets to Ae yeon first. Tae pyeong encounters the pair and grins in amusement at their playful behavior. After handing over his, Moo-jin asks Ae-yeon if they can simply go out for dinner.
While taking Hyeon jae to school, he confides in Mi rae that he wishes his parents would reconcile and regrets not being included in the decision when they got divorced. Nevertheless, Mi rae advises him to focus on studying and finding a job since no one in their family is cut out for starting and running a business, especially him. However, Hyeon jae feels let down and before he gets out, he questions Mi rae if she is aware that she is causing a rift between their parents. When Mi rae drives away, he is surprised by her suspicion that he was conducting business. Hyeon-jae sets off to rendezvous with his friend, Ju-yong. Ju yeong is close to launching his own department store and despite not being fully prepared, he has already received some offers. Hyeon jae intends to leave school to start a business.
Regarding Ae-yeon, she eavesdrops on Jae geol having a phone conversation. He is discussing his plans to take all of Moo jin’s fast-acquired money. Ae yeon encounters Jae-geol, who seems to work as a tax accountant. He assists Moo-jin with tax matters and claims they have been friends since their high school days. It seems like a lie because Ae-yeon is aware of all his friends and Jae-geol has to take back his words.
She had also listened to him saying that “money that comes easy goes easy,” and decides to question Moo-jin personally. Nevertheless, he is currently showing his respect to the landlord.
At work, the CEO goes above and beyond to commend Mi-rae when their sales significantly increase. Given Mi-rae’s skill at her job, it is not surprising that the others do not find it unusual, although it is evident that this is partially to ensure she does not speak out about his connection to Tae-pyeong. Despite being pestered by office workers, she remains a woman of principles and doesn’t disclose anything. In the elevator, Tae pyeong encounters her and her colleagues and eavesdrops on her friend suggesting she would seduce the son of the CEO if she discovers his identity. Afterwards, Tae pyeong encounters Mi rae as she is preparing to depart in her car and expresses regret for the pain she experienced due to him. Before driving away, she simply responds with a smile.
That evening, Ae-yeon is grabbed in the alley while dialing Moo jin’s number. At the same time, Moo Jin and Mi Rae continue to compete by purchasing a designer bag and a fridge, respectively, in order to impress Ae yeon. Moo-jin examines his phone and attempts to call Ae-yeon in return. Nevertheless, neighbor Chun-sik answers the phone. He alleges that he has recently discovered her phone on the floor and it seems that someone has driven her off.
Upon Ae-yeon’s disappearance, Moo-jin quickly heads towards the alleyway. Mi-rae also accompanies and together they make an effort to search for Ae-yeon. In the end, everything leads to the police station, where they discover her getting ready to make a statement. She’s participating in an interview related to a assault case. It appears that the perpetrator is the same person from episode 3. Ae-yeon cried out loudly, causing multiple residents to come to her aid as they fought off the creepy individual.
Following everything that happened, Mi-rae chooses to venture out on her own. While walking, she reflects on everything that has happened, reminiscing about the past when she saw this creep mistreating her mother. In reality, she came close to hitting his head with a brick before deciding against it.
As he walks, Moo-jin chooses to follow his daughter discreetly, watching over her. Upon seeing her, he compliments her on her success and acknowledges the challenges she must have faced as the leader of the household. He admits to causing her burden and takes responsibility for his errors, offering her his apologies. He encourages her to take a break for herself.
Mi-rae is upset and emphasizes that she never desired to resemble her father. Before departing, Moo-jin concurs with her, informing his daughter that she is completely different from him. Ae-yeon attempts to call her daughter but faces difficulty connecting, ultimately understanding that they cannot continue the same pattern.
Mi-rae eventually starts crying uncontrollably, and Tae-pyeong arrives and witnesses her distress. While the rain falls and Mi-rae expresses her sadness, he protects her under an umbrella.
In the epilogue, we switch to Ahn Jeong-in as she gazes at a picture of her and Moo-jin side by side. In a quick flashback, he refers to her as insane, and she replies that he should have expected that for getting involved with a “crazy person”.
So, that concludes the recap of this episode. What do you think? It’s much better than the last. The family came together for once and Ae yeon has realized that things are getting out of hand.
