The recap and review of episode 11 of ‘The Auditors’ starts with the passing of the ex-president. While getting ready for the funeral, company officials and the grieving family find a report from a major shareholder about questionable actions by Archcle Design, an architecture firm collaborating with JU Construction.
The report suggests that Archcle Design may be a shell company established by the ex-president for his hidden funds. Sin Cha-il initiates a probe as the paper company kept functioning post the president’s illness, indicating the possibility of foul play in his death. Nevertheless, Mr Bang tells him he must collect enough proof to persuade the family to authorize an autopsy.
As the audit team begins its work, a power struggle for control of the company erupts. A new individual makes an appearance: Head Choi, who is the recently hired leader of the procurement department seems to side with Dae-woong,
During their inquiry, the audit team found that the CEO of Archcle Design, a US national, was merely a figurehead for the company, with the actual activities being conducted in South Korea. The audit team must examine the case quickly because the cremation is imminent. As time passes, Sin Cha-il becomes aware of Dae-Woong and Head Choi developing a closer relationship, making Dae-Woong a target for potential suspicion in his eyes.
In the meantime, Dae-woong and Se-woong are in a fierce competition for the role of president. Dae-Woong asks the company directors to join him for dinner, hoping to persuade them to back him, but he notices a change in their response compared to previous interactions.
The audit team initiated an inquiry into the purchasing department, uncovering an irregularity in which an excessive amount of funds were assigned to a construction project that did not meet the government’s building standards. They discover a connection between Head Choi and the questionable project. It is clear that Head Choi is connected to the undisclosed slush fund. Sin Cha-il trails him and manages to capture him in the act of bribing the undersecretary, taking a photograph as evidence.
Simultaneously, Dae-Woong is summoned for questioning by the police because he was the final individual to see the president before he passed away. This gives Sin Cha-il an additional cause to doubt Dae-Woong. Meanwhile, Se-Woong is pleased with the outcome that has favored him. Dae-Woong’s situation worsens when he realizes he has also fallen out of favor with the undersecretary and that Head Choi has also abandoned him.
Before long, Sin Cha-il discovers that the president had actually instructed Head Choi to collaborate closely with Dae-woong in other to create the misunderstanding. Next, Cha il has a conversation with Head Choi and it is revealed that Head Choi was connected to the illegal funds. With his cover blown, Head Choi departs to confront the actual individual managing the slush fund, as Cha-il follows closely behind. Simultaneously, Seo-jin and Han-soo tail the other two suspects, Dae-woong and Se-woong, but Han-soo loses Se-woong.
While Cha-il trails behind Head Choi, the two are ambushed in an empty structure. The structure is engulfed in flames, causing the air to be filled with smoke, and the two individuals are rendered unconscious. Se-woong is identified as the attacker when Cha il sees him before he collapses.
Wow! Looks can be deceiving. I knew the president was up to something but not of this magnitude. The auditors recap is ending. How do you feel so far?
