The Auditors Episode 7 Recap

Episode 7 recap begins with Han-soo telling Cha-il about a possible technology leak at the company. Han-soo’s friend Yeon woo had mentioned that he accidentally saw Manager Park replying to a spam email and reported it to the general manager.

This incident triggered the bullying he started to experience. Han-soo and Yeon woo investigated the spam email that Yeon-woo had accessed through his account. They traced it to the dark web which illegally leaks company secrets. Han soo tells this to Cha il showing him JBIMS which the company is working on happens to be in that dark web site but without evidence, Cha-il dismisses Han-soo’s concern and the two argue over it leading Han soo to later walk off in anger. However, it’s revealed that Cha il’s reaction was due to President Se-woong’s strict orders to delay the audit until after the J-BIMS presentation as he wants nothing to tamper with it. The office is tense after Cha Il and Han Soos’ argument. Cha il leaves the office as well causing everyone to be worried.

At a meeting, Mr Lee presents the future of JBIMS but Vice president Hwang thinks that the president is just looking for an excuse to lay off staff and reduce manpower which is something he isn’t happy about, stressing that the construction company hires more people because they need them. He gets angry because Mr Lee seems to know nothing about a construction company and how difficult it is to operate. President Hwang, who is uncomfortable, adjourns the meeting. However, Vice president Hwang doesn’t trust Mr Lee. Just then. Director Yang gets a message that a staff confronted Cha Il about someone leaking company secret on a dark web and that the president had Cha il postpone the investigation until after the JBIMS presentation. Vice president Hwang is surprised that Cha Il would cover it up.

The office is still tense as Han soo leaves work early while Cha il allows everyone to go home as well. While on their way, the other staff are worried and tell Seo jin to check on Han soo. Later, Cha-il discreetly begins his investigation on Manager Park. After work, he runs into Vice president Hwang who is waiting for him at the car park. Vice president Hwang tells him he looks like someone who has blood on his hand and Cha il immediately realises that Vice president Hwang had looked into his past but he isn’t fazed and leaves. But while driving, Cha Il is reminded of an employee who committed suicide due to his harsh audit against him. Meanwhile, Han-soo and Yeon woo investigates the case discreetly at home. They discover their company’s email on the site and decide to send a message through it hoping for a response.

Seo jin discovers Cha il is actually looking into the information leak case when she sees him printing a report on it and hands it over to him. That makes her confused as she realises that Cha il isn’t working with the president as her uncle had made her believe.

Meanwhile, Mr Lee makes Manger Park do all the work of changing the project details by himself even when he complains that they will need assistance from other departments.

Hans soo is out on sick leave although the other staffs believe he is just being upset after the previous day’s argument but he is actually still hacking the dark website while Cha il has gone to investigate a certain Kim Jong won. Meanwhile, with too much work to do, Manager Park begins to feel Yeon woo’s absence.

Han soo hasn’t gotten a response so he and Yeon woo decide to check Manager Park’s email reply to the spam email at the office. They make an excuse to the guard at the front desk claiming they are there to retrieve Yeon woo’s belongings. Then they sneak in.

With Han-soo’s hacking skills, they find a demo of the J-BIMS project attached as a reply to the spam email but Manger Park receives an alert that his computer was tampered with. The security guard comes rushing in and confronts them. Yeon woo lies that he had forgotten that it wasn’t his laptop but they are detained until Manager Park arrives asking them what they did but Han soo threatens him not to touch his computer until Cha il arrives or he will be seen as trying to eradicate evidence. Cha Il and Mr Lee arrive as well and when Han-soo shows them the evidence, the attachment displays as invalid. He is shocked by this. Cha il berates Han soo while Mr Lee threatens to report to the president.

In private, Cha il acts as though he is scolding Han soo but in actuality, after their argument, We learn that Cha-il had asked Han-soo to pursue the case discreetly telling him that his main suspect isn’t Manger Park but Mr Lee. He  had noticed the tech department uses Censored paper that can be detected if anyone were to take them out of the office. Yet, Cha-il found an ordinary piece of paper in Mr Lee’s office, which is suspicious. He suspects Mr Lee of leaking information using the undetectable ordinary paper. Han Soo apologizes for getting caught but believes Mr Park is an accomplice. Cha il suggests they closely monitor Mr Lee and requests Han soo to be careful.

The next day, Cha Il informs President Hwang about the leak and he seems surprised that Mr Lee might be involved. President Hwang instructs him to handle the case discreetly but ensure that the demonstration isn’t jeopardized. After hearing that Han soo caused trouble at the tech department while trying to find evidence, Seo jin talks to Cha il determined to help him bring evidence. Cha il tells her to be careful with her investigation.

Once again, Mr Lee makes General manager Park handle all the work even when he still has so much to do.

That night, Han-soo follows Mr Lee, who buys a passport with a false identity from a document forger. Han-soo informs Cha il on the phone but unfortunately, the document forger notices Han-soo and punches him in the face. Just when he’s about to fiercely attack him, Cha il appears and rescues Han soo, restrains the Forger who claims the passport he was holding belongs to his sister. Cha Il and Han soo take him to the police station with Cha Il telling Han soo he doesn’t believe the Forger because the passport photo picture of his sister doesn’t resemble him.

The two then go to the office to interview Manager Park, who has been forced to work unnecessarily by the general manager. Han soo is surprised to see Seo jin is part of the investigation. Mr Park is dumbfounded when he is asked if he was bullied by Mr Lee. We discover that Kim Jong won whom Cha il questioned was actually one of Mr Lee’s subordinates at his former company and  reveals that his bullying was intense, discreet, and difficult to notice. Another had even quit after only three months of working under him.

In the interview with Manager Park, Cha-il reveals that Mr Lee  is framing him as the culprit behind the technology leak which he plans to sell to a broker for 500 billion won. Manager Park explains that Mr Lee had asked him to respond to the spam email, explaining that he only did as he was told because Mr Lee promised he would become the manager of the tech department after he is promoted to an executive position. However, When Yeon-woo saw him respond to the mail, Mr Lee asked Manager Park to bully Yeon-woo to get him off the J-BIMS project. Manager Park agrees to help the audit team sincerely, realizing Manger Lee’s true intentions.

The next day, Mr Lee acts suspiciously by changing the cloud server password to a simple one. During the presentation, Cha-il stops it midway and points out a particular man who doesn’t seem to be a reporter, accusing him of being the broker.

Another great episode. I’m looking forward to the next one.
