Oh Wang Soo is a wealthy woman, a former professional golf player who is currently the founder of NOW foundation, a charity organization that helps the less privileged. She is South Korea’s good will ambassador and is married to Yong kook, the heir to Hwain group of companies. However, she’s under threats by a terrorist group called Isis due to helping a disadvantaged middle east woman called Ms Balak and other women who are suffering from war.
Seo Dongwoo is a former cop who is on the hunt for the killer of his best friend Ju hyuk who was also a cop. They were so close to the extent Ju hyuk once gave Do Yoon his kidney.
Now, the two individuals both find themselves in the Philippines, Manila, each having their own separate agenda. After undergoing an interview with an Arabian prince who is helping to sponsor her foundation, Wang Soo receives a threat to her life from Isis terrorist group but she ignores it, determined to host her upcoming party in a few days.
While tracking his friend Ju hyuk’s killers at a gambling den, Do Yoon discovers his friend and Superior Mr Park meeting with the owner of the gambling den gifting him a bag full of cash. He also finds him talking about the flower shop business which coincidentally happens to be what the assassin who stabbed Ju hyuk said while leaving the murder scene. Do Yoon begins to suspect Mr Park because of this.
Meanwhile, Wang Soo stubbornly goes shopping despite her bodyguards warning her to remain in the hotel but while on her way out of the shopping complex, she gets shot at by a sniper. Her bodyguard and a staff member get killed in the process. She would have died if it weren’t for Do Yoon who happened to be in the vicinity investigating. He saves her and the two happen to escape in her bullet ridden car but it soon breaks down and Do Yoon decides to take her to his place which is nearby. Wang Soo doesn’t trust him, rightfully so but after Do Yoon reassures her of her safety, she reluctantly agrees. After fixing her car and getting rid of the tracker, he takes her to his home where an unexpected attraction sizzles between the two as Wang Soo helps bandage Do Yoon ‘s bleedy arm and he saves her from tripping over herself.
Do Yoon offers to return Wang soo to the embassy then gently wipes her bloody face with a wet towel. This act raises confusing feelings within Wang Soo. He takes her to the embassy where Wang Soo’s worried husband comes for her. Meanwhile, Do Yoon has written his statement and left. Mr Park, who happens to be the head of security for the Hwain family discovers Do Yoon was the one who saved Wang Soo. He meets with him seemingly excited at reuniting. He then offers Do Yoon a job working with him but Do Yoon, suspicious, refuses. Still, Mr Park leaves his card with him.
Wang Soo’s husband is unhappy with her insisting to hold her party despite the attempt on her life but Wang Soo refuses to relent, stressing that her work is important to her. However, in her private time, she’s unable to forget about her encounter with Do Yoon .
Wang soo goes against her overbearing mother in law Chairman Park who wants her to use her party as a means to bribe some prominent Chinese people into doing business with the family company. Her stubbornness enrages Chairman Park and she privately tells her lawyer to have Wang Soo killed as soon as possible.
To everyone’s shock, Wang Soo holds a press conference where she talks about her shooting. She announces that despite the threats, she would never stop fighting for justice. This doesn’t sit well with her husband and mother in law who are deeply against her decision.
Meanwhile, after giving it much thought, Do Yoon decides to work with Mr Park, determined to spy on him and find out the true context of his friend’s death.
The day of the party arrives, Wang Soo gets dressed up and walks out of her hotel room arm in arm with her husband only to be shocked when Mr Park approaches them as they step out of the elevator and introduces Do Yoon as the new bodyguard.
As Do Yoon greets them, Wang Soo is tense while her husband exhibits an arrogant superiority over Do Yoon before the two head to the hall where the party is taking place. There, they are welcomed by their guests as Do Yoon looks on.
Just as Wang Soo settles down, she recalls how poor she used to be. Her mother used to be a caddie at a golf club but was treated horribly by Chairman Park. After she gets fired, she steals two golf clubs which belonged to Chairman Park’s two sons and uses them to train Wang Soo into becoming a golf player. While in high school, she sends Wang Soo abroad for try outs and there, she becomes successful, winning numerous tournaments. Unfortunately, she’s unable to enjoy her money since it always gets taken away by her mother who was often dealing with loan sharks due to her gambling addiction. As a result of this, she cut off all ties with her mother and returned to Korea to begin her charity work.
After her reminiscing, Wang soo begins her introductions thanking her husband and the Arabian prince for their donations and as the party progresses, Jun hee, the son of Wang Soo’s friend Jang Tae ra is tired from the celebration and wants to rest. Wang Soo then searches for his mother as Do Yoon accompanies her.
However, she finds her friend Jang Tae ra in the suite having sex with her husband but instead of acting surprised, Wang Soo is more concerned that she caught them, leaving the two flabbergasted as they both realize she had known of their affair this whole time. Her friend asks when she started being aware but Wang Soo doesn’t feel it’s important for her to tell her. She warns them that they could have been caught by reporters and leaves the suite in anger. Do Yoon, who had been waiting for her outside, follows after her.
Wang Soo and her husband pretend everything is fine as they dance with each other in the midst of the crowd. But Do Yoon already notices what is going on when he catches sight of Jang Tae ra watching the couple.
After the party, Wang Soo gets into another tense confrontation with her mother in law who warns her not to get a divorce even when she herself was aware of her son’s affair. Wang Soo has no intention of doing that but in return she wants her to keep away from her foundation, hinting that it belongs to her. This infuriates Chairman Park once again.
Wang Soo spends the night at a bar drinking, ignoring Mr Park’s insistence to return to her room. She thinks of how she met her husband in Africa when he joined her foundation to do volunteer work for ten days. On his last day, he had asked her to leave golf and marry him. However, when she and her brother are introduced to Chairman Park for the first time, she belittles their family because they were poor and her mother was a gambling addict. However, Wang Soo cleverly stands up to her. Chairman Park then tries to intimidate her by claiming she killed a reckless celebrity with a bad image who tried to marry her son. Wang Soo is shocked by this, leaving Chairman Park to laugh when she says it isn’t true. She doesn’t believe her son could fall for someone like her. Still, she allows the marriage, secretly making her brother sign a non-disclosure and prenuptial agreement. Then giving him a job at the company and making him do something unknown to their mother.
It has been twelve years since then. Do Yoon sees Wang Soo leaving the bar drunk and helps her to the elevator but she has him come with her. The atmosphere is tense between them. When they step out, Do Yoon follows her to her room. She tries opening her door but she’s too drunk and ends up scattering the contents in her bag all over the floor. Do Yoon helps her gather them up and while he’s doing so, Wang Soo asks him if he coincidentally met her that day. When he doesn’t respond, she asks him to sleep with her. Confusion mirrors Do Yoon ‘s eyes but he doesn’t say anything. After opening the door, he leads her inside because she’s stumbling. However, the attraction between them is sizzling as Do Yoon holds her and asks if she’s unhappy or lonely to which Wang Soo replies she isn’t either. He then steps away from her and is about to depart the room when Wang Soo’s husband Yong kook who had drunk himself to stupor knocks on her door. Do Yoon is about to open it but Wang Soo stops him. Yong kook notices an id card on the floor and is about to pick it up when Mr Park arrives, saving them by telling Yong kook that Wang Soo was drunk. Her husband leaves and Mr Park slips the card under the door indicating he knows they are together.
Thunder sparks in the sky and the two finally part ways. The next morning, Wang Soo is informed by her assistant that her husband and mother in law have left for Korea. However, when she sees Do Yoon , she is tense but tries not to show it as he walks behind her.
They arrive in Korea and Mr Park drives Do Yoon to the family Mansion and shows him the basement where the staffs lives. Do Yoon settles down in his room and asks Mr Park about his relationship with Yong kook while trying not to let his suspicions about him show. Wang Soo’s female bodyguard Lee jin lets Do yoon know that Wang Soo requests his presence. Mr Park leaves afterwards.
While waiting for Do Yoon, Wang soo recalls her late father in law pleading with her to remain with the family for a period of time. The reason for this is yet to be disclosed.
Do Yoon is parking his things to meet with Wang soo when he mistakenly hits his picture which he took with Juhyuk. The frame scatters but to his surprise, he notices an sd card inside it. Just then, he recalls his friend’s last words to him about something in their photo. He then checks the Sd card and discovers a video of the late chairman of Hwain Group, Wang Soo’s father in law being wheeled out of an ambulance. Do yoon thinks that there is something suspicious about the death of the late chairman and this may have resulted in the death of his friend Juhyuk. The episode ends.
What a great start to the series. The chemistry between the leads are sizzling and I can’t wait to find out how things develop.
