Stalkers Of popular K-pop groups NCT And EXO Fined By Police For Stealing Personal Information Of Members

The individuals who took personal information of EXO and NCT members and harassed them have been ordered to pay a penalty.

SM Entertainment revealed the findings of the investigation on July 10th regarding the theft of personal information linked to EXO and NCT on the website ‘Gwangya 119’.

Last year in April, stalkers posed as delivery drivers on a Twitter live stream and revealed the artists’ private information to the public.

SM lodged a complaint for breaching the Act on Promoting Information and Communication Network Use and Protecting Information, along with other offenses.

The authorities pinpointed four distinct individuals, with two of them being recommended for prosecution after directly contacting the artists.

The defendants acknowledged all of the accusations. Each of the defendants were given a 3 million won fine [equivalent to over $2000].

SM expressed gratitude for the reports from fans that helped in taking legal action against criminals targeting artists.

The harm continues. After finding out the artists’ phone numbers and addresses, victims have reported being bothered by unauthorized phone calls and home visits.

The agency reported that celebrities have experienced pain as a result of their fame, but they are now facing significant mental suffering. These are egregious criminal offenses.”

Their intention is to implement a zero-tolerance approach, advising: “Stop any actions that violate the privacy of artists” and “be careful to avoid any negative situations.”
