The couple try to escape but are caught thanks to the assistance of Ju Byeong Deok. Here, Mi jin and Byeong Deok introduce themselves to each other. After the couple are taken into custody, Ji-ung questions Mi-jin about her reason for being at the restaurant, and Mi-jin tries to explain it was o only a coincidence but Ji ung finds her suspicious considering this isn’t the first time and asks what she does for a living since getting scammed out of a job but Mi jin is unable to tell him.

They part ways but later on, Ji-ung comes across Mi-jin sitting alone at a bus stop. He follows her, overhearing as she vents about her inability to tell him the truth about her and how she feels unappreciated by him, despite trying to save his life. She calls him a jerk, leaving Ji ung stunned. However, he appears to defend her when she mistakenly hits a drunk passerby while kicking a can in frustration. They resolve their misunderstandings by Ji-ung asking Mi-jin to wait for him while he opens up about his feelings to her, and she agrees.

She returns home in a jovial mood and tells her parents what Ji ung last said. Her father believes Ji ung must trust her for him to be willing to talk about his feelings with her.

The next day while the three are entering their office, Byeong Deok asks Ji-ung about his relationship with Mi jin. Lim Sun is curious as well but Ji ung doesn’t tell them anything. Lim Sun asks Byeong Deok if Ji ung has dated before but he hasn’t which makes her laugh so happily it confuses the others. Later, they question Poppy at the office about his involvement in the drug activities at the club. He reveals that the club offers drugs, alcohol, and women to customers, who would later have their drinks spiked and be subjected to sexual assault. Later on, Ji-ung decides to track the drug trail in order to find the supplier. Simultaneously, club employees are moving all the drugs to be concealed beneath the ground at Obongsan Mountain. A worker, who follows Byeong-Deok’s orders, covertly documents their actions and later tells him about the drug disposal.

In the office, a woman recognizes Lim Sun and tries to help her remember their previous job experience at the bank. However, Mi-jin, while pretending to be Lim Sun, smoothly transitions to a different topic and ends the conversation. But she is internally bothered as the memory of her and her aunt the real Lim Sun playing with a cat nearly makes her teary eyed. The senior interns are then invited to attend a team dinner at the office the next day at 4 PM but Lim Sun makes them go to a french restaurant so she would be able to go home on time. After Lim Sun leaves for the day, Ko Won, who has been unsure about Lim Sun’s true identity discovers from his manager that there is no record on her except that she vanished twenty years ago. Ko Won then follows her to a cybercafé. He discovers Mi-jin with Lim Sun’s clothing and possessions while he’s wearing a mask to avoid her recognising him. He notices the heart-shaped scar on Mi-jin’s ankle, just like the one Lim Sun had, which makes him think that Lim Sun and Mi-jin are the same person. He leaves silently, taking Mi-jin’s keychain with a cat pendant on it.

Mi-jin contacts Ji-ung late at night upon realizing a car is tailing her as she makes her way home. Unfortunately, it seems there was a miscommunication as the car departed. Mi-jin returns to her parents’ butcher shop and finds out that they are throwing a party for their neighbors to celebrate her first paycheck. She asks her mother about her Aunt Lim sun working at a bank before she vanished. Her mother says it’s true

The next day, the identical car is seen lurking outside Mi-jin’s residence again. On her way to work, Lim sun comes across a young woman holding a sign board about her father who went missing in the Seohan district years ago. She becomes concerned. While Lim Sun is at work, a letter comes for Mi-jin from the prosecutor’s office but her father takes the letter for her, hiding it from her mother. During his shift, Ji-ung discovers information about the detective responsible for looking into the old missing person cases that happened around the same time as his mother’s murder.

At the dinner, Byeong Deok defends Lim sun against some gossip women who look down on her because of her age. As time progresses, Lim Sun is the standout performer during the office dinner with her impressive karaoke performance and wows everyone with her karaoke session.

Meanwhile, Ji ung tracks down the detective who was trying to solve a case involving the disappearance of Seohan Bank, where Mi-jin’s aunt Lim Sun worked. He often went to see Ji-ung’s mother about the case, but she was too frightened to tell him the truth. The old detective, who now lives in a nursing home, advises Ji-ung to let go of the case and keep moving forward. He then receives a call from Byeon Deok informing him that Baek Cheol gyu used to be Hwadong medical center director. Ji ung believes he is suspicious

Lim Sun, who was a little intoxicated, accidentally dials Ji-ung’s number on Mi-jin’s phone instead of her own. Meanwhile, the office workers are leaving once more, but Ko Won tries to convince Lim Sun to go back because she is on the brink of reverting back to Mi-jin. It is clear that he knows her secret, but Lim Sun changes into Mi-jin, hiding her face in Ko Won’s embrace as Ji-ung arrives after tracking down Mi-jin’s location. He sees them together, shocked by the scene.

The eighth installment of Miss Night and Day kicks off with Ko Won and Ji-ung rushing Mi-jin to the hospital after she faints. Mi-jin was discovered to have taken too much anxiety medication, which resulted in her feeling extremely tired. It was found out that Ko Won had been trying to take the anxiety pills, but Lim Sun unknowingly ended up drinking the drugged beverage instead. Ko won tries to hide this from Ji ung but they are both testy around each other and Ji ung finds him suspicious. He later overhears him speaking with his manager about it and warns him not to drag innocent people down with him. (Ji ung, just admit you are jealous of your rival)

After Mi-jin wakes up, she goes outside with Ko Won, finding a reason to leave Ji-ung. Mi-jin knows that Ko Won knows her secret. It turns out he was the owner if the suspicious car following her around and witnessed her change firstand in the morning while waiting outside her house. He gives her back her key chain and it’s then everything is clear to her but he assures her that he will protect it, just as she did for him when she found out that he was taking pills. Following that, Da-young suddenly arrives in a bike and she goes home with her.

Mi-jin stumbles while walking in Da-young’s house and starts to wonder if the effects of aging are starting to affect her everyday activities. This scares her, but she and Da-young decide to look for the mystical cat together.

The next day, on her commute to work, Mi-jin sees that woman from before protesting outside the prosecutor’s office and it bothers her again. Ji-ung discovers that a car belonging to Hwadong Medical Centre was caught on CCTV on the day of the murder. The previous director who is now a Senior Intern, Baek Chul-Kyu, is currently suspected of replacing intern Ko Na-heun. They decide to investigate Chul-kyu. Lim Sun wants to do this but Ji ung stops her due to her health.

Following that, Ko Won chases after Lim Sun, who is trying to avoid him, and offers her 3 million won as compensation in return for the wish voucher given to her by the Chief Prosecutor because of her performance. Ko Won exchanges the coupon to secure the position of the Chief prosecutor’s secretary. The Chief is reluctant but has no choice but to comply with Ko won and make him his secretary.

Meanwhile, Byung-Duk delves into Baek Chul-kyu’s history and finds out that he is highly respected in the community for his acts of kindness and selflessness. However, one person contends that Chul-kyu is advantageous to many individuals, which is why they back him. There are suspicions that he killed his wife upon discovering she was cheating. However, it turns out that the murdered prisoner had known Baek Chul Kyu and threatened to expose him before he was suddenly killed by a police officer.

In a different place, Lim Sun talks to the woman who is protesting because she is worried about her health after seeing her nearly collapse on the road. In their discussion, Lim Sun discovers that the woman is the daughter of Ko Na-heun and discovers that her father has been missing for a long time. After discussing it with fellow interns, she begins to develop rational worries about Baek Chul-kyu as well.

In her conversation with ex-detective turned intern Seo Mal-Tae, she discovers a common pattern in the continuous disappearances of individuals involved, suggesting that these victims were saving money to travel somewhere. She asks her mother if her aunt had taken any money, but she finds out that her aunt had not taken any money. The police believed that her aunt had left on her own accord and was not classified as missing.

That night, Mi jin talks about her aunt Lim Sun wondering why she was never found. In a flashback, it is shown that Ji-ung had met Mi-jin when she was a child while her mother was looking for Lim Sun, her sister who had suddenly gone missing.

It has been revealed that Seo Mal-Tae, one of the staffs used to work as a subordinate of the former detective with dementia on the missing persons’ case in the past. In another flashback, it is revealed that the retired detective was delayed in meeting Ji-ung’s mother to provide a witness statement about the disappearances because he was obeying orders from a higher-ranking official. The culprit had already found her before she had the chance to meet with a police officer.

Later on, it becomes evident that Ko Won wanted to become the secretary in order to keep an eye on Lim Sun and make sure she stayed safe. In the meantime, Lim Sun receives a list of people who are missing and is asked to give it to Ji-ung. She then realizes that her aunt’s name is on the list. She expects Ji-ung to eventually discover this, so she intends to act on it in the future.

Byeong-Deok arrives at Ji-ung’s apartment complex in a different place, which used to be a motel where Baek Chul-kyu’s wife was found murdered before being bought and turned into an apartment building. After briefly meeting Ji-ung, he decides to leave because Ji-ung needs to concentrate on analyzing the report about the missing persons. However, Mi-jin arrives at his house with drinks and snacks, with the intention of making him intoxicated and taking the report.

She feels let down to find out that Ji-ung didn’t get drunk, but she sees the report briefly and understands that she had misunderstood the name “Lim Suk.”

During a casual conversation, Ji-ung admits that he has liked Mi-jin from the beginning. He also mentions his absent mother and the ongoing loneliness he has been feeling. In a moment of closeness, Mi-jin leans in and unexpectedly kisses Ji-ung.

Miss Night and Day is entertaining. All suspicion directs towards Baek Chul-Kyu, who’s also revealed to be involved with the drugs and missing persons’ case. We find that he was the person the acid attacker might have been in contact with, but it’s also possible that an accomplice is involved since Baek Chul-Kyu had asked someone to clean up their mess. Clearly, the mystery in the show is quite engaging.
