In Episode 9, we return to the funeral where Yoon-bok reunites with his sister, who wakes up and starts crying. She informs him that their mother always remembered him and he also confides in her about his pain. They carry on conversing at the memorial, where Yoon-bok requests her to refrain from apologizing for what happened in the past.
While at home, Hong-do can’t stop pondering about Yoon-bok and his unexpected hug from behind. While debating whether to attend the memorial, she encounters Yoon-bok on the street as she is leaving. He acknowledges that things has been challenging and requests that she remain by his side.
Yoon-bok is surprised to see his sister working at the police station as he resigns from his job. She states that she will handle the Gamjjok case, emphasizing that she is a skilled police officer but is being cautious about disclosing her true mission.
At his residence, Yoon-bok gives his resume to Hong-hak, preparing to follow his dream at last. Hong-hak begins by altering Yoon bok’s attire in order to fit into his apprentice role including the list of books he reads. He attempts to imitate Hong-hak by even enduring spicy cup noodles.
Hong-do overhears Hong-hak reprimanding Yoon-bok for his artwork but intervenes, standing up for Yon bok’s decision to depict a man fully dressed in his art instead of a naked one. Prior to her departure, he places a scarf around her neck which she keeps on for the rest of the day. Now she is questioning the significance of it all – does he have feelings for her? Maybe he is just being kind.
Leader Shin also can’t seem to get Yoon-bok out of his mind at the Village. He brings in Yoon-ah for an update, finding out that he is currently residing with his sister. On her own, Yoon-ah admits to Yeojudaek that Yoon-bok is behaving somewhat oddly.
Yoon-bok waits at the bus stop for Hong-do, pretending he is only there to sketch. Because he’s present, Hong-do asks him to join she and her brother for dinner and he eagerly accepts. Yoon-bok also ensures Hong-hak doesn’t cheat Hong do of her portion at the table, even going to the extent of peeling a perilla leaf for her. (A symbol of affection mostly done by korean couples) When he presents her with a piece of fruit on a fork, she begins to think he is showing interest. Until he feeds Hong-hak by hand, who is pleased by the politeness of his new student.
At Seongsan restaurant, Jun-ho gives Yi-bok a soothing remedy for her cough. The medicine was made by his mother. As they sit side by side, he helps her like he used to, as both a servant and a friend, bringing back feelings of nostalgia for her. However, the memory of her falling ill as a child was a sad one for him because he was beaten up that day for letting her fall sick so he didn’t feel as happy. Afterwards, by himself, Jun-ho inspects a fan and fixes it in a secret room.
In the village, Leader Shin yells at Camille for causing trouble among the residents. He suggests for her to stay at his house to minimize the chaos and to allow her the option to leave and go home whenever she wants. She’s quietly satisfied with her new residence where she lives with him.
At the local shoe store, Camille finds a leather sandal named pichohye that is a design which was popular many centuries ago. She purchases it, brings it home for further design contemplation, and embellishes it with lovely new details. She is headed to locate wifi to share her creation; she discovers wifi close to Chilbok, Phony’s room, causing him to feel uneasy. Once she publishes the post, she returns home immediately.
The villagers appreciate Camille’s sandal design and rush to the shoe shop to purchase them, pleasing the shop owner. Later, he encounters Camille in order to express his gratitude, happy that she has preserved his family tradition. They decide to work together on additional designs.
During her time in Seoul, Hong-do can’t stop thinking about whether Yoon-bok has feelings for her. She goes for a reading to determine Yoon-bok’s intentions. However, she locates her ex-coworker who was fired from her job for plagiarizing Hong-do’s design. Her ex-boyfriend, who was also Hong-do’s ex, also broke up with her, using words similar to those he had used with Hong-do in the past. Through some chatting between the girls, they come to the conclusion that Yoon-bok probably has feelings for Hong-do.
In her house, she listens as Hong-hak suggests that Yoon-bok has a crush on his teacher, which is her but Yoon-bok disagrees – it’s just about showing respect. Nonetheless, in reality, it’s only a discussion about their webcomic. The remark on respect causes Hong-do to weep silently in her bed. Yoon-bok suddenly comes to the realization that he might have given Hong-do the wrong impression.
The following day, Yoon-bok attempts to reach Hong-do before she goes to work but fails to catch her. On his way back, he catches a conversation between Yi-bok and the detective discussing a possible connection between Seongsan Hall and the Gamjjok case.
Franky shares Camille’s cooperation proposal with the Cultural Heritage Administrator, who is pleased to learn that the proceeds will go towards supporting cultural heritage. They are contemplating possible sites for a popup store and ultimately choose Seongsan Restaurant. While Hong-do is taking photos outside the restaurant, Franky is surprised to see a good-looking Yoon-bok entering through the gate, and promptly offers him a modeling job with Camille.
At the restaurant, Yoon-bok, Yi-bok, and Hong-do coincidentally meet, but Hong-do is eager to leave the uncomfortable situation. She comes up with a reason and quickly takes Franky away, who promptly connects Yoon-bok to the scarf that Hong-do had been excited about.
Yi-bok is curious if her brother will seek her out for advice on relationships, but it turns out he wants to discuss the Gamjjok case. He informs her that Gamjjok could be connected to the fire that took their father’s life and advises her to be on the lookout for individuals with burn marks. Later, she looks around the kitchen for potential culprits and notices that Jun-ho’s suit jacket usually covers his arm.
At a restaurant, Yoon-ah reads the feedback on Hong-hak’s webtoon, Strong Woman Oh Yoon-ah, and is pleased to see positive comments praising his character. However, there’s a couple not so far from from. The boyfriend is been abusive to the girlfriend because she wants to break up. Before the boyfriend can strike his girlfriend, Hong-hak intervenes, but he gets punched in the face before he can complete his sentence. At that moment, Yoon-ah comes back from the bathroom and punches the man, rendering him unconscious. He is happy when Yoon-ah shows appreciation for his bravery, even when he is clearly outnumbered.
Continuing to work, Hong-do avoids Yoon-bok for the second time, saying he should not come to pick her up at the office because she is still occupied. He comes to see her bearing a gift, only to discover her napping at her workstation. Seated, he reflects on their past encounters when he had feigned indifference towards her. Upon waking, she discovers he is sleeping next to her. Before she has a chance to get away, he admits his feelings and plants a kiss on her lips.
Epilogue: While working on the webtoon, Yoon-bok and Hong-hak have a disagreement about the significance of a kiss, with Yoon-bok stating that it is reserved for couples who are thinking about getting married.
