The tenth episode of The Atypical Family picks up with Gwi-ju experiencing another car crash, this time with Da-hae. The incident happens when Gwi-ju and Da-hae get into a disagreement about a small detail in their beloved movie. Da-hae suggests to Gwi-ju to journey back in time to uncover the true color in the scene, and he accepts. Upon his return, the car is completely wrecked.
Five days prior to the incident, Da-hae officially returns to the Bok family home and is welcomed with warmth. Gwi-ju feels thankful and happy when Soon-gu comes back home as well. Yet, it appears that everyone except him is aware of his impending demise. It was disclosed that Ms. Bok had shared her terrible vision with Da-hae and requested her to ensure Gwi-ju experiences his most joyous moments. At first unsure, Da-hae refuses, knowing he will die because of her. However, she still concedes to Ms Bok’s request.
While at school, the homeroom teacher interrogated the kids in the gym where I-na was trapped. Their fingers are directed towards Hye-rim. Afterwards, Hye-rim’s true nature is revealed to everyone, leading even I-na to cut off communication with her. At the same time, it becomes known that I-na and Joon-woo are in a relationship.
Gwi-ju suggests that the family should relocate because they can no longer afford their large house. Ms Bok quickly gives her consent. Upon being confronted by her husband, Soon-gu, she promises to fulfill all of Gwi-ju’s desires and warns that their relationship will also come to an end once Gwi-ju is no longer present. At the gym, Dong-hee sobs as she runs on the treadmill, knowing that Gwi-ju will soon pass away. Her mother had warned her not to say anything reminding her that with Gwi ju gone, she would finally have the building she has always wanted but Dong hee is shocked by her coldness, crying that she’s still Gwi ju’s sister no matter what. She blames her for having such a dream.
In the meantime, Gwi-ju, I-na, and Da-hae have a fun-filled day, sharing laughter while riding bicycles and capturing memories in a photo booth. That night, Gwi-ju secretly enters Da-hae’s room and refuses to leave. He vows to cherish the moment and return to it. It is disclosed that despite Gwi-ju’s desire to rescue the 17-year-old Da-hae in the past, Da-hae is the one who delays his plans and demands to get married after Dong-hee’s wedding before his journey as a superhero to the past. They intend to go to the beach tomorrow.
Upon returning to the sauna, Baek Il-hong cryptically instructs Hyung-tae about Da-hae, stating that they must bid her farewell appropriately.
The following day, Da-hae and Gwi-ju are headed to the beach in their car when they get into a disagreement over a specific detail in a movie. Gwi-ju sets out to search for the solution but comes back to discover the car in a crash and Da-hae gone. The police and ambulance come and search, but they only find Da-hae’s coat.
Gwi-ju is completely devastated by Da-hae’s sudden disappearance and sinks into a state of depression. He looks for her everywhere but cannot find her. In the end, he goes to the sauna and blames Baek Il-hong for killing Da-hae. But she blames him for not saving her. Due to his depression, Gwi-ju is unable to revisit the past. The Bok family is filled with a sense of relief, seeing it as a sign that he could survive.
As time goes by, Dong-hee goes back to her initial appearance. She is planning to wed Ji-han, her betrothed, who has a secret lover and is only interested in marrying Dong-hee for her wealth.
Gwi-ju continues to go back to the junkyard in search of the car, but he has yet to find it. Dong-hee comes to bring him back, stating that their super powers are gone forever. I-na joins them and motivates Dong-hee to spread her wings and search for it, but she is unable to fly and departs feeling discouraged. She comforts Gwi-ju and tells him to go search for Da-hae to warn her. Gwi-ju goes in time but doesn’t succeed in making any changes. He later goes back to the night he requested to sleep in Da-hae’s room, cautioning her about the accident, yet the outcome remains unaffected.
I-na chooses to look into the abnormality and discovers Hyung-tae in the sauna. Hyung-tae’s actions indicate that he is aware of I-na’s abilities. At the same time, Baek Il-hong is doubtful about the incident and requests Hyung-tae to accompany her to the seaside. I-na never gives up, and eventually Hyung-tae conveys to her, silently, that Da-hae is alive, but they must locate her before Baek Il-hong does.
A retrospective scene shows that Da-hae intended to fake her death in the crash with the assistance of Hyung-tae. When Gwi-ju traveled back in time, Hyung-tae faked the accident and brought Da-hae along. Da-hae is residing as a lodger close to the beach.
I-na informs Gwi-ju of where Da-hae is. Gwi-ju arrives at the guest house and finds out Da-hae went to the beach. Looking for her, he calls out her name until he eventually spots her.
Surprised, Da-hae begins to flee. When Gwi-ju captures her, she pleads for him to go away, warning that staying will result in his death. At the same time, I-na tells the family that Da-hae is still living. Ms Bok nearly passes out. While staring in shock, I-na reads her thoughts aloud and asks, “Will dad die?” as the family looks on.
Following a long discussion, Da-hae finally gives in, agreeing to not stay away from him despite what the future foretells. This prompts Gwi-ju to embrace and kiss her, promising to stay by her side no matter the consequences.
Wow what a rollercoaster. Finally, Da hae is also very much in love with Gwi ju. I know Baek Il hong was bad but not so bad that she’s willing to kill Da hae. She would prove to be a formidable villain.
