Hide Episode 9 Recap

Two men, Ha Jae pil, Joo Yeong’s father and Na Seok Jin, Moon Yeong’s father get into a fight at the cliff. But Ha Jae pil mistakenly slips over the cliff and dies. Next we see Na Seok Jin waking Moon Yeong and telling her to declare him missing in a few days and say the body at the cliff is his before leaving. So when she was called by the police, she admitted that the body was her father’s.

Moon Yeong is in shock after seeing her real father. She’s unable to tell Shin-hwa and detective Baek about this. After returning later to see Na Seok Jin in prison, she asks if he killed the real Ha Jae pil but he  replies it was an accident. She also asks if he has a hand in Chairman Choi Moo Won’s death  but he denies it, saying he was only giving him his usual injection that day. Suddenly, Joo Yeong joins in on the conversation and Moon Yeong tells her this has always been what she wanted. Joo Yeong replies that she doesn’t know anything and recalls how as a little girl, she waited for her father to return home after he said he was going to see a friend but he never did.

When she became older, she found Na Seok Jin identifying himself as Ha Jae pil and knew what he had done. After visiting her father’s grave, she decided to take her revenge. She accuses Moon Yeong of closing her eyes to the truth. With a mocking smile, she tells him the only thing she wants is to make sure he clears her ‘father’ of murder.

Do Jin woo and Seong Jae come into the station as witnesses to Choi Mo Won’s murder. When they are alone, Seong Jae asks why Do Jin woo is still helping Moon Yeong when he has gotten his daughter. When Do Jin woo accuses him of being a lesser lawyer than Moon Yeong, Seong Jae accepts it, saying he did it because he didn’t want his daughter to have a murderer father. Do Jin woo accepts that and tells him it’s the reason why he didn’t want to use his identity and used Hwang Tae Soo instead but Seong jae annoys him by reminding him he was the one who brought Tae Soo to him. They get into a fight and only get separated when the police come. Do Jin woo leaves, warning Seong jae to keep his mouth shut.

Seong jae visits Seok Jin in prison thinking he looks familiar. He tries to convince him to put the blame on Joo Yeong or Choi Mo Won’s first son but Seok Jin insists on being neutral. Seong jae tells him Moon Yeong is his wife which means he’s on his side but Seok Jin simply leaves.

Meanwhile, Joo Yeong’s guard Seok Goo believe they should take care of Seong Jae since he’s been a nuisance but she tells him to let him be, given that his testimony would be useful to them. (she’s truly having a field day, enjoying everything that’s happening)

Moon Yeong gets home with Bom only to be confronted by Seong Jae who has discovered the truth after seeing a picture of Moon Yeong and her father. He accuses her of scamming him and his family. Moon Yeong doesn’t make any effort to counteract him. Instead, she tells him to do whatever he wants.

Do Jin woo visits Moon Yeong that night and he tells her he knows Seong jae visited Ha Jae pil in prison. When Moon Yeong asks how he knew, he admits he’s been tracking his phone. Moon Yeong asks why he’s so obsessed with Seong jae and Do Jin woo replies that he felt guilty for what happened to Hwang Tae Soo after trusting Seong jae to help him with housing. He doesn’t want the same thing to happen to another innocent person.

The next day, Moon Yeong heads to Joo Yeong’s place demanding that she give her the health files on Chairman Choi Moo Won. After there, she goes to her father and asks him once again if he is Innocent. He replies that he is.

Seong jae reveals the truth about Na Seok Jin to his father and the man gets afraid this would affect his political ambition. However, Seong jae tells him they just have to take care of Joo Yeong so that they can have the 80 billion before she does.

While having lunch with Do Jin woo, Shin hwa and lieutenant Baek, Moon Yeong reveals the truth about her father. Everyone is shocked but Shin Hwa and Lieutenant Baek are more disappointed that Moon Yeong would insist on taking her father’s case after he had abandoned her. They are also disappointed that she mistook someone else for her father all those years ago. They leave her but only Do Jin woo stays because he understands why despite everything, she would still want to help her father. He believes she would eventually make things right. (The other two are law abiding citizens so it’s understandable why they would be more upset with Moon Yeong than Do Jin woo)

Seong jae meets Joo Yeong at a private restaurant. He confronts her for  using him to take revenge on Moon Yeong. Joo Yeong tells him he can have the money. It’s obvious money isn’t what she’s after and all that matters to her is to get back at Moon Yeong. He says he doesn’t want to die while they are both fighting between themselves. Joo Yeong promises to give him access to withdraw the money if he testifies that Seok Jin did kill Chairman Choi Moo Won. But he would have to give her half of the money.

While Moon Yeong is picking Bom from a tennis court, Seong jae meets them and as usual, their speeches are harsh towards each other. When Seong jae notices Bom’s cold reaction towards him and her refusal to speak with him, he calls his mother, determined to take her from Moon Yeong immediately.

Meanwhile, both Shin hwa and lieutenant Baek have done their separate investigations and they discover that Ha Jae pil didn’t actually die from the fall. He died from drowning and her father’s wallet and id card was found in his clothes. When they tell Moon Yeong, she figures something isn’t right and goes to confront her father in prison. She then realises the truth. He had actually drowned Ha Jae pil and placed his wallet and id card in his clothes so people would think it was him. When Moon Yeong discovers he had purposely killed Ha Jae pil, she is devastated and that night, kneels in front of Joo Yeong’s house and apologises while crying.

The next day at court, Moon Yeong shocks everybody by admitting her father killed Chairman Choi Moo Won. She also admits that he was impersonating the real Ha Jae pil and had actually killed him years ago. She then apologizes to Joo Yeong. Turns out she planned to do this so Joo Yeong doesn’t turn them into full blooded murderers. However, Joo Yeong looses her cool and yells out in court that Moon Yeong doesn’t get to apologize. The episode ends.

Oh my! First of all, I’m angry at Moon Yeong. No matter what, Joo Yeong deserved a proper apology. Her father was killed and she probably had no one and suffered a lot. Even if she had to crawl on her knees, she should have deeply apologize but instead, she’s still holding her head high and being dignified about the entire situation and that’s so annoying. I would understand Joo Yeong’s angry reaction because of Moon Yeong’s behavior. Overall, the episode is very captivating and I can’t wait to tell you all what happens next if you don’t go watch it yourselves.
