Hide Episode 3 Recap

The episode starts after Do Jin woo is shot, Moon Yeong shouts that she has called the police which ultimately scares off the shooter, her husband Soon Jae. After he drives away, Moon Yeong checks on Do Jin woo who is bleeding profusely. She asks who shot him and he replies it’s her husband before passing out

Next, we see Lieutenant Baek questioning Moon Yeong asking if she saw the shooter’s face but just like Do Jin woo, she’s quiet.

The next day, Lieutenant Baek discovers Do Jin woo is missing from the hospital and calls Moon Yeong to find out if he has been in contact with her but Moon Yeong lies that she has when in reality, she and Do jin woo had planned to meet in a village where the foundation her husband Soo jae managed for homelt is located. Among the beneficiaries of the foundation was a homeless man Hwang Tae soo who had gone missing. Moon Yeong visits the foundation and asks the secretary about him. She replies that he along with some others were specifically handpicked by Seon jae to be beneficiaries of the foundation. She also tells Moon Yeong that a certain Mr Oh lent his identity but when the police discovered it was for a burner account, he was chased by them.

Meanwhile, Moon Yeong’s law firm is being raided by debt collectors. Lieutenant Baek is called in to handle the situation and when he arrives, he threatens to arrest the intruders for unlawful debt collection. After the tension subsides, he then asks Ms Go and the assistant about Do Jin woo but they are vague asking him if he was the one who broke into their office. Lieutenant Baek realises that they won’t cooperate with him.

Upon hearing the firm had been raided upon, Moon Yeong rushes to the office to find her father in law there. He has already taken care of everything and put himself as the one who would handle the debt of the firm. He asks Moon Yeong to try and get Soong jae’s insurance so they can settle themselves once and for all. However, once again, Moon Yeong expresses her suspicions of her husband’s death saying that the insurance plans he took out did not involve suicide yet he publicly wrote a suicide note as if he had another agenda but her father in law pleads with her to let things slide and stop looking for loop holes where there isn’t any.

That night, Moon Yeong dreams of a younger Soon Jae stopping her from commiting suicide by jumping off a cliff. She wakes up feeling thirsty but soon notices an intruder in her house. The person escapes before she could identify him. The next morning, lieutenant Baek and some other police men are at her house to investigate. Lieutenant Baek subtly expresses his suspicions of her highlighting that recently, bad things tended to happen to her. He goes too far when he mentions that she and Do Jin woo were probably working together to get insurance money. This no doubt infuriates Moon Yeong and she ends up punching Lieutenant Baek in the face, leaving him baffled.

The police leaves and Do Jin woo surprisingly visits Moon Yeong’s house mostly to take back his motor bike which he had left at the shooting scene. The two of them go to a secluded place to talk and Moon Yeong asks him about his relationship with her husband and if he had a hand in Ms Kim’s death considering he was the one who reported her accident to the police but Do Jin woo replies that he didn’t kill Ms Kim and followed her that day because he was worried about her. Moon Yeong asks why her husband would want to kill and Do Jin woo replies it’s because he was searching for Hwang Tae Soo, his fellow friend from the foundation.

The last time he saw him, he was very drunk and was being taken to a hospital by her husband Seong jae but on getting to the hospital the next day, Do Jin woo discovered that he hadn’t been admitted there in the first place. After days of searching, he reported to the police but they weren’t helpful.

Now, he suspects that the dead body that got burnt in the accident wasn’t really Seong jae’s but Hwang Tae Soo because he had exchanged them. Moon Yeong finds it hard to believe him saying that her husband could hardly hurt a fly and couldn’t bear to see an injured animal but Do Jin woo scoffs revealing that her husband used to go hunting with chairman ma and that she didn’t really know him at all. If she tries searching for Hwang Tae Soo, she would be shocked by what she finds.

In a state of paranoia, Moon Yeong rushes to the office and checks her husband’s things. Sure enough, there’s a picture of him with Chairman Ma holding guns as they pose for the camera.

Triggered by doubts, Moon Yeong calls Shin hwa to run another DNA test using the tooth brush her husband had at home because the one used before was given by her mother in law. However, when she gets home, she’s surprised to see Chairman Ma in her house. Terrified, she asks him to leave but Chairman Ma remains calm and composed saying that he has gotten five billion of the money her husband took from him. (The jerk had searched their dressers) and that he’s giving her a week to find him the rest of the money. Moon Yeong gets scared when her daughter Bom comes out of Chairman Ma’s car. She threatens to make him pay for his black mail but Chairman Ma doesn’t care and drives off with his entourage.

As Moon Yeong is taking Bom to her car, she meets her neighbor Joo young and her father on the wheelchair. Joo young tells Moon Yeong not to hesitate in asking her for help if she needs it. Moon Yeong thanks her and speeds off.

She takes Bom to Shin hwa’s office and relates to her everything that happened. Shin hwa is infuriated that Chairman Ma is threatening a former prosecutor like Moon Yeong. When Moon Yeong asks how the DNA test is coming along, Shin hwa replies that it will be difficult to accomplish since the case has already been closed bit she promises to help out although she doesn’t believe Soon Jae is alive. Moon Yeong asks Shin hwa to look after her daughter since she’s the safest person she can be with.

Moon Yeong then does her investigations and discovers that her husband had opened fake burner bank accounts using Hwang Tae Soo’s identity along with some others in other to collect illegal money from Chairman Ma’s company.

She then confronts Chairman Ma with this information while he’s in a meeting. Embarrassed, he sends everyone away to face Moon Yeong alone. She fiercely reminds him that she was a prosecutor for thirteen years and had dealt with people like him. She then tells him that the so called money he’s trying to get doesn’t actually belong to him but a mysterious ghost company.

Chairman Ma tries to act clueless but Moon Yeong can’t be stopped as she points out how his ghost company sent seven billion won to a fake homeless person’s account, no doubt a money laundering tactic that is controlled by someone higher than him. Chairman Ma tries to act non chalant saying it’s none of her business where the money came from and that she should still return it to him but Moon Yeong can see through his false confidence as she tells him that he has no proof of giving her husband money since he didn’t use his own identity but a fake ghost company. She wonders what will happen to him if the higher ups knew he was embezzling company money. She tells him to bring evidence that her husband took his money. If he does, she would take responsibility but then warns him sternly never to threaten her using her daughter again or he would pay for it. (Damn! strong woman)

Moon Yeong meets with Do Jin Woo to tell him she knows everything but Do Jin woo doesn’t care because his primary purpose is finding her husband Seong jae. Moon Yeong reveals that Hwang Tae Soo withdrew money from one of his accounts after her husband’s death but before she can give him any more information, he should tell her why he strongly believes her husband is alive. Do Jin woo then tells her Seong jae purchased a burner phone with Hwang Tae Soo’s identity and that the said phone is still active.

Moon Yeong goes home and checks the DNA report that had been sent to her. Her suspicions were correct. The DNA of her husband didn’t match with that of the burnt body. Moon Yeong falls into a state of despair and completely breaks when she notices Chairman Ma’s guard watching her from outside.

The next day, Moon Yeong confronts her mother in law about her lies. Her mother in law tries to deny it but there’s enough evidence to prove her guilt. Moon Yeong even shows her evidence she had called Hwang Tae Soo’s burner phone the previous night because Seong jae had it. She threatens to expose her to her husband if she doesn’t tell her where Seong jae is. Her mother in law is left with no choice.
