Gray Shelter Episode 3-4 Recap

Things get complicated when Yoon Dae notices a pair of condoms in Soo hyuk’s drawers and asks if he has a girlfriend. Soo hyuk says he doesn’t have a girlfriend leading Yoon Dae to ask if he’s sleeping with a man to which Soo hyuk replies it’s the reason he shouldn’t stay long with him. Yoon Dae leans closer, telling him to wash up since he smells weird (hmm). Yoon Dae also tells him to throw away his old shoes which Soo hyuk continues to place in front of the door or he would do it himself since it belongs to him.

That night, Soo hyuk brings Yoon Dae home after he gets drunk with his friends. He blabbers over why Soo hyuk still keeps his shoes and talks about how he once almost died in high school wearing Soo hyuk’s shoes because he had so many holes at it’s sole.

The next day, while eating out with his boss and co worker, Soo hyuk confides in his boss on how difficult it is living with Yoon Dae. His boss tells him not to care about him since he didn’t even invite him to his father’s burial. Soo hyuk confesses that he did something bad to Yoon Dae when they were living together in the past but he isn’t able to continue his conversation because his co-worker comes in.

Soo hyuk gets frustrated with his father when he calls him to pay for his meal. He refuses, saying he doesn’t have money and both of them get arrested by the police. In the station, Soo hyuk bares his heart out to his father, asking how long he has to bear his burden. His father answers it will be until his death. He doesn’t want to be known as a failure to others but he can burden his own family. Soo hyuk begs him to stop punishing him for his past where he committed one wrong doing but his father responds that he is a failure. (Something serious must have happened that makes Soo hyuk feel guilty)

Yoon Dae who has been calling Soo hyuk gets frustrated after waiting for him at a karaoke. After a while, he gets a response but it is from the station. Yoon Dae rushes over there and immediately bails Soo hyuk out but the other seems lifeless. As they leave, Soo hyuk admits he’s tired of everything and that he isn’t doing well. Yoon Dae wraps his shawl around his neck and embraces him tightly.

Yoon Dae starts secretly gathering money to buy Soo hyuk a new canvas by collecting money from everyone who owes him, even his ex girlfriends. However, he discovers that his best friend is spying on him to his father (His father is actually alive) He gets disappointed in him, accusing him of betraying him. His friend tells him his father is remarrying and that if Yoon Dae hadn’t told Soo hyuk his father wasn’t dead, he wouldn’t have allowed him to stay with him but Yoon Dae denies his real feelings saying his friend knows nothing but his friend objects, saying he knows the real Yoon Dae. He leaves him saying he can also paint him out as dead.

Soo hyuk’s mom visits him and he’s upset that she still sees his father. But he’s more shocked when she tells him that Yoon Dae’s father is getting married again and that she isn’t upset about it even though she’s his ex. Soo hyuk is unhappy that Yoon Dae lied to him and through out, he isn’t himself.

That night, Yoon Dae cries to his father to leave him alone and not invite him to his wedding. Soo hyuk has a drink with his boss and admits he doesn’t know how to feel towards Yoon Dae as he can’t understand why he lied to him about his father. His boss tells him to reexamine his true feelings. Yoon Dae keeps calling him but he refuses to pick up.

When he returns to the apartment late that night, he and Yoon Dae have an argument. He tells him he already knows he lied about his father’s death because he wanted to stay with him but Yoon Dae counteracts saying he was the one who invited him to his house. If he’s uncomfortable, he should kick him out. Soo hyuk asks Yoon Dae what he sees him as reminding him they aren’t real brothers. The two dance around the real issue, neither of them admitting that they just want to be together. Yoon Dae, unable to stand it any longer, grabs Soo hyuk and kisses him. He then tells him the truth. That he doesn’t want to say goodbye to him. Then they both engage in a full make out session and the episode ends.
