She gets up and addresses the court saying that what she did was wrong but if she could go back in time, she would do it again. Her family who watches are left deflated as she tells the court she doesn’t want leniency.

Now, the news about Soo hyun has gone viral. She has been blacklisted from society. Her mother painfully prays for her in church. As Soo hyun is being led into the prison van, protestors gather around her. Suho fights his way through the protesters and assures Soo hyun that he would do anything to set her free but being a news casters, he has to report her case stone faced on tv. He falters as he reports that she was sentenced seven years in prison. He is unable to talk more but the staff urge him to continue. Then he lets out his true painful emotions to the shock of the staff who try to cut him off. He tells the viewers that Soo hyun was just a mother who lost her child. They had set her child’s murderer free of his crimes. Whereas she was incarcerated. Is there anyone who can really judge her?

Now we see Soo hyun being led to her jail cell while Suho is reprimanded and then fired. He goes home and wallows in grief.

It seems some time has passed.  Letters are being delivered to the prison cells. Soo hyun receives plenty of letters from her fans leaving her roommates excited but she ignores everything. She even refused Suho’s visit so he handed her a document through an officer. The document is full of petitions by people for her release. Then she reads a small note from Suho writing that he understands why she wouldn’t want to see him but he promises to do everything within his power to get her released.

Suho starts investigating the whole case. He manages to find evidence from a hotel staff at the chrome sun hotel where the late Suwoo was a constant visitor. He bribes the staff member who gives him leaked CCTv footage. Suho goes through the footage, surprised to see that his old nemesis Kim Joon (congressman) and Suwoo were close.

Meanwhile, Soo hyun is going through her days In prison monotonously, cleaning, sweeping. When she’s mending a bunch of clothes, she breaks down at the sight of a child’s shirt. Memories of Gunwoo hits her like a storm and she goes blank not caring that the needle from the machine was piercing her skin. It’s another prisoner who notices and raises an alarm. Immediately, an elderly woman who is her roommate and a group of police women immediately grab her. The room is in an uproar as Soo hyun collapses. She is rushed to an ambulance and a particular young man stares after her.

Meanwhile, Soo hyun is trapped in her own nightmare where she’s playing hide and seek with Gun woo and Suho but when she turns around to find them, the sky has turned dark and it looks like she’s the only one In the world. She suddenly finds herself alone in an eerily dark forest with the sound of children’s voices echoing in the distance. Soo hyun calls out for Gunwoo but there’s no response.

Then a memory of that day when she returned home because she was scared of Gun woo’s fever. She remembers passing her neighbor and her son on the street. She remembers entering the house and that the door was locked behind her. (There’s a conspiracy)

Soo hyun who is unconscious in surgery starts to react. Doctors try to stabilize her. Next we see a doctor speaking to Soo hyun’s mother after the surgery. He tells her she’s suffering from severe anxiety and depression which led to her accident.

Soo hyun’s mother goes to see her crying over why she has to do what she did but Soo hyun lifelessly tells her that she remembered she had closed the gate to her home that day. Her mother cries, saying there’s no use even if she did close the door. She continues to cry, worried for her safety. However, Soo hyun blankly insists she closed the gate that day and wonders to herself how Gun woo got out. She starts to blame herself and begins hitting her injured hand again causing her mother to scream. Soo hyun starts bawling her eyes out crying over Gun woo as her mother gathers her in her arms trying to comfort her.

Meanwhile Suho carries out his own investigations and notices that everyone tied to the case of his son, the lawyer who represented Suwoo, the judge who presided over the case, everyone all had something to do with the congressman.

Next we see Suho meeting with Kim Joon the congressman in his office. Kim Joon slights him by reminding that he quit his first job as a reporter while trying to expose his corrupt practices. Suho then asks Kim Joon why he called for him. Kim Joon lets him know that he’s aware he bribed a waiter to find evidence on him. Suho then reveals he discovered he and Suwoo were close and had been drinking together on the day of the accident. Kim Joon then mockingly asks him if he can provide proof of that. Suho skilfully replies that he wonders how he would be able to explain the fact that everyone who worked on that case, Suwoo himself was a DUI who could manipulate records, the attorney, the judge all had connections with him. Kim Joon laughs that he should write articles instead of novels.

Then Suho says that he, a member of the national assembly, worked so hard to get a mere CEO of a construction company out of trouble probably because of the byeonyundung issue he tried to expose years ago. He had made the CEO his right hand man because he helped him launder money for his presidential election. Kim Joon asks Suho if he isn’t afraid but Suho replies that he has already lost everything. It’s him who should be afraid since he had so much to lose. He promises to expose him in retaliation for his late son and his wife but then Kim Joon shows him a video of that day his son got into an accident. The gate was really close meaning he had been watching him. He then threatens to hurt Soo hyun if he doesn’t keep quiet.

Next, the female jailer gives Soo hyun another note from Suho. She then asks Soo hyun why she doesn’t want to see him. Meanwhile, her roommates make fun of her as they talk about how she didn’t even flinch when the needles from the machine pierced her hand but her elderly roommate Hyeong ja defends her saying that compared to the pain of losing a child, that needle couldn’t compare. Soo hyun was wiping the floors but Hyeong ja grabbed the cloth from her instead. The other inmates try to stop her but she stops them. Soo hyun is surprised when Hyeong ja helps do her chores. She helps wash her clothes and carry her water. She even helps her in spreading clothes. It is then that Soo hyun thanks Hyeong ja and asks why she’s helping her. Hyeong ja replies that she’s helping her because she wants to plus Soo hyun reminds her of herself when she was younger but she managed to push past her horrible memories and survive her pain. After saying that, she leaves.

Next we see Soo hyun searching for Hyeong ja in a field. She finds her alone writing then shyly shows her healed hand. Hyeong ja is so happy for her then Soo hyun gives her a brand new pair of glasses to replace her old one. Hyeonh ja excitedly receives it. She jokes around with Soohyun and for the first time in a long time, Soo hyun smiles.

After her rounds mending clothes, Soo hyun happens to pass by a group of young children singing oh holy night in the prison. The peculiar man is the one conducting them and Soohyun gets so emotional watching them as they remind her of her son. As she walks away, the peculiar man turns and stares after her.

Suho is in a dilemma as he contemplates his choices. He has to sign a non-disclosure agreement in exchange for Soo hyun’s protection.

Next, we see Suho’s mother visit Soo hyun’s mother and sister at their restaurant.vHowever, she is cold towards them as she relays the news that her son is traveling abroad as a correspondent. She tells them that Suho has nothing to do with Soo hyun anymore as she hated seeing Suho suffering because of Soo hyun. She tells Soo hyun’s mother not to hinder her son’s opportunity at success.

Soo hyun’s mother and Yuri visit Soo hyun. Yuri tells her that Suho is going away as a correspondent and won’t be back after a long time. She begs her to hold onto him and allow his visits but Soo hyun has no reaction.

Later, we see Soo hyun finally allowing Suho to visit. He says he misses her and she apologizes for refusing his visits all this time. She says she just couldn’t bear to see him. She congratulates him on returning to work in the station and Suho tells her he would work so hard so that after her release she wouldn’t need to suffer but to his surprise, Soo hyun tells him never to come back again. She tells him she is a murderer, that his life would be ruined with her by his side. She tells him harshly to wake up from his dream and that she has no place left in her heart for him. Suho is heartbroken and doesn’t believe she means what she said but Soo hyun insists. She turns to leave but Suho yells that he may never return once he becomes a correspondent. He cries that she should hold on to him but Soo hyun leaves regardless causing Suho great distress.

He ends up drinking alone in the bar but Soo hyun isn’t faring any better as she sobs deep into the night, her sobbing waking Hyeong ja. Hyeong ja meets him with her and tells her softly not to hold in her sadness, but to let it all out. Soo hyun cries.

In the women’s prison, the inmates are having a great time singing in a hall. Hyeong ja volunteers to sing on stage and her soulful voice melts everyone’s hearts. Soo hyun is in tears watching her. At the same time, we see Suho finally traveling abroad. He looks back one last time, his face crestfallen before eventually leaving.

Years pass. It’s the year 2020. The female jailer calls Hyeong ja out of the cell.

Next, we see her sketching on the snowy courtyard. Soo hyun meets her and asks what she’s drawing. Hyeong ja replies that it’s the place she wants to go after she comes out of prison. She shows her the sketch of the place and says that the tree there makes wishes come true. Soo hyun asks what her wish is and Hyeong ja replies that she wishes that everyone who suffered because of her would find happiness in their lives. Soo hyun suggests that they go there together one day but Hyeong ja doesn’t say anything causing Soo hyun to be curious. Then Hyeong ja reveals that she’s dying. It was the reason they called her that morning. seeing the pained expression on her face, Hyeong ja tells Soo hyun not to worry, dying is part of her redemption and she feels at peace with it. But she’s telling her because she wouldn’t want her to go through the same pain of saying farewell without preparation.

She hands Soo Hyun her book and when she opens it, she sees scraps of news reports about arson. Hyeong ja then tells Soo hyun her story. She had learned her husband was having an affair so just like Soo hyun had wanted to take revenge so she set the house on fire without them knowing but she had no idea that the fire would spread so much and an innocent family ended up dying because of her. But there was only one boy who survived and she had prayed for years that the boy would survive and be protected. She wrote letters in her diary for him but out of guilt, couldn’t bear to meet him herself. She then asks Soo hyun for a favor, to deliver her letters to the boy when she gets out.

Time passes and we see Soo hyun hugging Hyeong ja’s book to her chest as she sits on her usual spot in the courtyard. She recalls Hyeong ja’s last words, to find the boy who must have gone through as much pain as she did and help him heal.

Three years pass and we see the peculiar handsome man working in a garage. The scene then cuts to Kim Joon having a publicized meeting with a group of politicians as he talks about promoting peace in politics. But in reality, he and his assistant are trying to dig up dirt on everyone. However, they are unable to find anything on one of the politicians Son Hyeonnim whom Kim Joon sees as a big threat to his ambitions.

The scene cuts to the peculiar man. It’s night and he’s having a meal at the garage while at the same time scrolling through images of certain politicians. The alarm on his watch rings out. He gets on his bike and drives off.

Meanwhile Kim Joon assesses that Son Hyeonnim’s wife is the principal of an academy. They might be able to find some dirt there(evidence of money laundering). His assistant tells him that their team’s spy is currently on it. The spy is the peculiar man and he intercepts the academy’s security and enters the principal’s office. He manages to open a locked safe and secure evidence but a guard notices suspicious activity coming from the principal’s office. Soon a group of security officers hurry to the principal’s office but they find no one. He had already escaped.

The peculiar man meets with the assistant. He gives her the evidence in exchange for cash. She tells him they would go after another congressman Choi Juseok the next day.

Soo hyun had been released from prison along with other inmates. As she basks in the sun for the first time in a long time, she opens her eyes and sees Suho walking towards her but she soon realizes it’s her imagination. It’s actually a stranger who comes to welcome another inmate. The pangs of loneliness hit Soo hyun.

Soo hyun is heading to the cemetery where her son is buried. At the same time, the peculiar man is on his bike heading to the same cemetery ignoring the assistant’s message to get dirt on Attorney Choi. Both he and Soo hyun are on the same road, side by side without either of them knowing.

The peculiar man visits a grave. When he arrived, he pulled weeds out of the grave. Soo hyun visits Gun woo’s grave, breaking down when she sees his small picture frame that was placed there. Soo hyun and the peculiar man are only a few meters apart. It suddenly starts to rain. Soo hyun had slept off beside Gun woo’s grave but when she woke up, she saw an umbrella covering her. It’s the peculiar man. He asks if she’s okay and offers her the umbrella but she briskly dismisses him. After taking one last look at her son’s grave filled with all the goodies she had brought, she starts to leave. The man looks at Gun woo’s grave. He pursues Soo hyun and insists she take the umbrella or her son would feel sad seeing her in such a state. Sun woo simply stares at him, unmoving so the man grabs her hand and places it on the umbrella. The episode ends with the two of then staring at each other

Now, I’m wondering if they’ll enter a romantic relationship because that’s just going to be weird!!!
